u wanna recall what u had done cos it is not so easy to brick a samsung drive?

Anyway for your case , if you wanna get, get a samsung drive rather than hitachi drive. So far, for swapping of drive, we are still waiting for success story for samsung(original) - hitachi(replace) swap thou the vice versa had been proven ...

Sorry .. that's either a load of BS or you're mistaken somewhere along the line.  You can't just replace the drive plug n' play.  You will need the unique drive key from the original drive (from the original firmware dump) and you will need to flash the new drive with a firmware with that key injected into it.

Ok now we are talking. Thats what I thought i might have to do. I didnt think that M$ would just let you change out your drive. Well i do have the orig.bin file from the drive that i bricked, now all i need is a replacement TS-H943 MS25

Since you have the orig.bin(the key), it is not much of a problem. You can even do it now that's to inject the key into the extreme firmware. When u gotten the new samsung drive, just flash it. However, before doing that it is still a good practise to dump out the original firmware just in case u need it in future.

Regarding the swapping of drive, one of the reasons of doing that is because of availability. Seems like it is easier to get hold of a hitachi drive. But when u do that, you will have to change the drive model else you would have gotten the E66 error (since your original drive is samsung). However, currently we don't have a success story for such swapping unless you r willing to try ... smile.gif People swapping from hitachi to samsung had been successful.

Try to load back the orig.bin. You may need the 10sec. trick if the enable0800 disc cannot be used. Known someone who gotten E65(DVD drive error) after doing wrong with the key injection but manage to fix it...
