Bricked Hitachi 47dj. Any Solutions?
« on: November 04, 2006, 08:29:00 AM »

I bricked my hitachi 47DJ drive which had one of the earlier garyopa's firmware with Maximus stealth. I wanted to upgrade to the 2.3 firmware so I wanted to remove the stealth first. I followed Maximus readme which was pretty vague for the restore part (basically said to flash with reverse order).

So I entered to following command: 47flash e hacked.bin 10033000 1000. There was no output and system froze. When rebooting the drive was bricked. Getting error E65.

So... What are my options?
Is there a way to unbrick a hitachi? I still have the original firmware and key from the time I first installed garyopa's firmware.

Is there something I can do to unbrick? If not, is there someone I can send the drive to to have the ROM reflashed?

Thanks!

You can get it unbricked. You need a programmer and your chip is desoldered, reflashed.
You made a big mistake you flashed the area that you weren't supposed to.
"47flash e hacked.bin 10033000 1000"  would be like 47flash e hacked.bin 900033xx 1000"
Where did you get that sector ?
Anyway , it will take time and some money to you.Good luck

Sorry, i typed it wrong. I ment this are the command I entered based on Maximus readme file:
47flash e hacked.bin 90033000 1000

By the way, was that the correct way to remove the stealth feature from the firmware? Or the hacked.bin file needed to be encrypted first?

I am getting E64 error when i tried to start it so...

The links posted were all for UK. I am in the US. Is there anyone in the US that offers a service to restore firmware?

If not, I might as well just buy a drive off ebay or something. In case I do buy another drive, should I get another hitachi or go for a samsung this time?
