Can't Upgrade To Certain Fw Versions After E66

Ok for all those ppl trying to upgrade/change their firmware and are still getting error66, please try this:

1) get your xbox to boot any way, even if you have to disconnect the drive completely
2) Clear your xbox cache! Here are the instructions: http://www.joystiq.c...9/xbox-360-hdd- cache-clear-code-discovered/
3)Once your cache is clear restart your xbox, and remove your HDD
4) Now we are going to do a FACTORY RESET, I believe this will remove all updates and any FW comparisons the System might have run.
Go to the system blade
Under system blade go to system info
Once in system info hit these buttons LeftTrig RightTrig X Y LeftBump RightBump X X Left Left
5)Now go ahead and update your drive with the latest FW, your xbox should now be missing the spring and fall update. So my suggestion is to first update to the spring update via a game, and then the fall update via Xbox live.

this gave me three red lights of death and then they stopped after like an hour and i still had an e66 error

Tell us what dvd drive you have ? What have you done previously ?Be more specific please.

Hello Myfranco and Looouky,

I have swapped DVD drives on my 360 and am now receiving an e66. I am assuming it is because I replaced a Hitachi 78/79 with a Hitachi 47.

I am assuming Looouky's instructions should get me going again? I don't see very many replies to this topic, so did this actually fix anyone issues?

Yes this was fixed ages ago.. you need to spoof your Hitachi v47 as a Hitachi v78.

Google "xbox 360 textbook" and it gives details. You have to use the newest firmware toolbox.

I want to try this but my console is stuck at the screen that says cant find update disc sad.gif
Anyone know how to get rid of this screen ?

I would use my replacement drive but I get the e66 if i use that. There is a huge post from me about this on another thread.

Any input will be appreciated. Thanks smile.gif
