Hi i've got a Hitachi GDR-3120L drive, ROM version 0047DH. I should be very easy to flash this one. But strangely i dosnt work, i use the connectivity kit v2 to flash my drive. And tried both Birdy and xtreme versions.  And they both flash fine with out any problems, but i just can't play any backed up games. And i know that the games works because they works on my friends xbox perfectly. He also have the rom version 0047dh like me, and he don't have any problems at all (used the same conn. kit).

i've searched every forum that i could find, for a solution for my problem. And i can see that there have been more like me with that exact problem, but i can't seem to find out if any of them got it to work and how?? I really hope that someone out there got a solution for my problem..

Will it play an original game or film?

Also what is the error? or does it just hang when it trys to load?

Oh yea it plays original games perfectly. But with backups it just reads and reads from the drive then it begins to click(the drive) and after a while it either says unreadable disc or open, in the drive status field. It dosn't hang or things like that, just returns to dashboard...

I have the same problem with a 47DJ. I flashed it with Maximus/Garyopa 8in1 with Mediacheck 2. Flashed successfully 4 times, even restored it 3 times, this drive will not play any backups only originals.

1 - Insert backup the dash will show reading for about 30 secs then go to open tray
2 - Using Verbatims burnt with NEC 3550A
3 - Same backups work on other Hitachi versions except this bloody 0047DJ. Also works on TS

Any suggestions other than trying to use a Pioneer 111?

Man I have a 46 and I am getting the same things after the update.  Drive worked fine before and even recently had the laser changed.  Now only boots originals and dvds.  With unreadable disc error on most the back ups and open tray on some.  


I had never seen a Unreadable disc error on any of my 360's til after the update.  Always in the past it was open tray, or dirty disc error when trying to play.  I also tried restoring reflashing several times with nothing.  Maybe its coincidence and the laser went bad again.  But man its kinda got me miffed.

I'v tried JayQue's Rubber band mod & the dvdcase/plastic stuck in the drive bullsh!t.
Cant forget the soft rest via plug & charge!

And... to top that off, I cant burn any games!
CloneCD just hangs at the Lead-in...

Well i've finally made it work... I havn't been able to play my backuped games ever, from the day i bought my xbox. I had a friend help me flash it, but no luck alway got the open tray error or unplayable disc. Then to day i finally got a break through. I used the pot tweak tutorial, and changed the value to 3.18KOhm. AND I WORKED!!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I think that its the problem for many people with open tray...

 I have flashed many 47DJ Versions,And yes The hitachi 47d version have probs with booting backups like platinum,But some of the hitachi 47dj have no probs, So sometimes its verry strainge.
So the best idee is to use verbatum and it works great.
