DVD drive model: Samsung
Original Firmware version: ms25
Hacked firmware version: xtreme v2.0
How you modded: Manual hex edit and flashed using manual MTKFLASH
Region: NTSC
Successful Update: NO! e66 error!

Refurb Xbox with Samsung ms25 swapped in place of its original Hitachi 47DJ 3 months ago. Not even the stock original firmware would work on the Samsung ms25 after the update (e66).

THE FIX: Manual hexedit of Samsung ms25 firmware to replace mentions of TS-H943 with equivalent code from original Hitachi 47DJ firmware. (be diligent here as there are some slight differences, use the Samsung's syntax). Now original Samsung firmware works as well as xtreme 3.3 without any e66 error!

If I have an xbox with an MS25 thats not flashed and not updated to fall yet, should I flash it first to 4.2?

Updating to fall update then flashing to 4.2 would be the wrong way?

If I got this right... the fall update stores your current drive model and if you change firmware version after that, you get E66?

additional notes:
first upgraded firmware from 5.0b to 5.2b. then disconnected power and sata cable from dvd drive and proceeded to do dashboard update. after reboot, said it couldn't find something and said to contact xbox support. didn't realize it was because i didn't reattach the sata and power back to the drive after reboot.

after removing the sammy, after getting the key, which is such a simple process on the sammy.
i installed a hitachi drive, and even without the propper key the xbox installed the new update without any errors at all. updated from disk.
Hitachi was hitachi 79 drive. and was also flashed to 1,91 and there was no removal of firmware. i did this by mistake.
but wasnt a problem. LT+ 1.91 was still there after the new update and all working correctly.
i beleive its an error, incompatibility issue with old xbox360s with toshiba drives. i kn ow people who have been told by microsoft they have a modded console and that hasnt been true. the E66 error. is exactly that an error. it has nothing to do with modded drives.
i have seen them do it stocked. microsoft pffffffff. wasnt the rrod enough..

it was a 2006 xbox360.
with samsung TS-H943  swapped to hitachi 79.

Succesful update. YES.
Region- pal.
was modded. still modded

tools used. - jungleflasher and ck3 pro

E66 ERROR : GONE

microsoft help: hell no.

personal total num of rrod xbox360s : 26
