It's getting worse. I tried all the firmwares I have (X33, X42A, X42B). Flashing X33 will
give the famous E66 error. The others will start into the dashbord but will only boot
DVD video's. With games I will get: Unplayable disc or a multilanguage message containing
"To play this disc, put it in an xbox 360 console". Any suggestions? This is for sure after the
update. The fist days I didn't connect to Live so is was working well.

Your problem with the X42 firmware doesn't sound like E66 related, sounds like your drive key isn't making it into the firmware.

I have a bigger problem... my drive is a MS25 originaly mi XBOX had a Hitachi drive but it died so i replaced it with a sammy drive, my problem is that no matter what firmware i flash to my dirve (xtreme v2-4.2) i'm still getting the E66 and i can't flas the original firmware cause its a Hitachi 59 i've just extracted the key from the hitachi and insert it on the sammy. Could it be possible that the new update detects that i'm running a Hitachi key on a Samsung drive? How can i fix this?

Any help would be apreciated.
Thanx

Try out those new tools like XboxSam 0.5
That should solve your problem

Could this be the problem:

Replacement drives? That's something else we should talk about as it's now probably no longer possible to swap from a Hitachi-LG GDR-3120L to Toshiba-Samsung TS-H943 (or the other way around) as the model of your drive would no longer match the model stored on your 360.
Also, the FW version on your replacement drive should not be lower than your stock/factory drive. Actually to play safe (certainly for a Hitachi-LG as this drive does not allow to easily flash/upgrade the whole firmware like the Toshiba-Samsung does) I suggest you get a drive with the same version as your stock/factory drive if you ever need a replacement drive. Quick note for the new people here: if you ever plan to replace your drive yourself, keep in mind you also have to patch/flash it with your unique DVD drive key - the key-check is of course still there wink.gif
I wonder if Microsoft did change the DVD model/version info stored on all repaired/refurbished Xbox360s when they swapped a DVD-drive or motherboard ... Let us know if this happened to you wink.gif

Sammy Ms28 Xtreme30

The error code E66 only affects the Toshiba-Samsung MS28 drive when flashed with Xtreme versions below 4.2. The solution is to flash Xtreme4.2 if you got E66.

I know that maybe someone ask this question many times before but I can't find right answer.

I have a F/W MS28 and as other people I got E66. So I trying to reflash my DVD-ROM to 4.2 (now I have a 3.3).
But how I can do this ??? Flashing from oryginal to 3.3 was quite easy, just turn off and turn on dvd-rom in the right time. But how is when I'd like to change firmware from version 3.3 to 4.2 ?
I read somewhere that I have to use Enable0800 disk before I can reflash, but how ???
On what type od disk I shuld burn this Enabele ISO ???
Can I use Enable disk from 4.2 firmware version or I have to use from old 3.3 which is my dvd-rom flashed now?
I know that many peope did it so can someone write step-by-step how to do this ?

Thanks
And sorry for maybe stuped quastion

To flash from 3.3 to 4.2 you use the same method as you used for flashing before. You do not need the 0800 disk.

Hey guys...I have your fix for those that swapped original Hitachi's for replacement Samsung's.

Story: Refurb Xbox with Samsung ms25 swapped in place of its original Hitachi 47DJ 3 months ago. Not even the stock original firmware would work on the Samsung ms25 after the update (e66).

THE FIX: Manual hexedit of Samsung ms25 firmware to replace mentions of TS-H943 with equivalent code from original Hitachi 47DJ firmware. (starts around $2020, be diligent here as there are some slight differences, use the Samsung's syntax). Now original edited Samsung firmware works, as should any edited xtreme firmware without any e66 error!
