Neither really...the 25 and 28 have both had the dreaded err66.
It's very few of them, and the same can be said for Hitachis.

Just reporting in...
Xbox pack: Premium originally but referb from MS
Drive: TS-H943 - MS25 - Oct 2005
Firmware notes:
  • When update occurred it was 4.1a - e66
  • Tried original firmware - Success
  • Tried 4.2a - e66
  • Tried 3.3 - Success
Didn't check live yet but I can't imagine it not working.

I flashed and updated 2 xbox 360's ... both are the same model.

Drive: Samsung ms25
Firmware: 4.2a
(SWEDEN)

Flashed using mtkflash for nvidia chipset and hexedited using 360SAM.exe or someting.. dont remember the appname =)

Downloaded Live Update and installed succesful.. The box is still working and i can still go on live. Played SplinterCell DA last night for 4 hours multiplayer.

That makes perfect sense extreme v3.3 was ms25 based firmware so it kinda would work on a initial ms25 based 360.

I have a bigger problem... my drive is a MS25 originaly mi XBOX had a Hitachi drive but it died so i replaced it with a sammy drive, my problem is that no matter what firmware i flash to my dirve (xtreme v2-4.2) i'm still getting the E66 and i can't flas the original firmware cause its a Hitachi 59 i've just extracted the key from the hitachi and insert it on the sammy. Could it be possible that the new update detects that i'm running a Hitachi key on a Samsung drive? How can i fix this?

Any help would be apreciated.
Thanx

You simply can't do a thing about it, you need to buy the Hitachi-LG drive  and flash it to get it up and running again.
