Get a Pioneer 111D like everyone else, NEC burners can't burn working 360 games.

i was thinking about just buying one but can i just plug it in and start burning the same way I do just with the pioneer instead of the NEC or do I have to update the firmware or edit something? Is it plug and play or do I have to set it up with specific drivers?

I have a pioneer 111D and i still have problems booting backups with my hitatchi. Does anyone know if this release is 64-bit compatible. Garyopa had told me that the next release would be 64-bitbut i don't know.

Also would this release help SS detection in general or is it only for the EA games??

Not entirely true. I burned all my games with my NEC3540, 1W8 firmware and platinum / verbatim media. These all work flawlessly on my XBOX360 (samsung drive).

Yesterday i flashed a Hitachi 59D for a friend of mine. Used Maximus/garyopa 2.2 with revised bats. Well, the flashing went allright (thnx GaryOpa). Furthermore, this hitachi plays ALL my backups too (???) . This is the 1st time i see a hitachi thats able to read my NEC3540/platinum backups but i tell you, it did  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

So, i can confirm that (in some cases), NEC3540 + Hitachi is possible.

hi guys, last night I burned Tiger woods 2007 and it is working like normal (PAL). My 360 is flashed a couple of months ago with the 7in1 package, so I think no dummy SS for me?

Does anyone think this will help with media recognition? I have burned 100% working backups with a NEC 3520a DVD burner and Verbs for my Samsung but none will read and will only give the open tray error on my Hitachi? Any Ideas?

Im guessing you havent set your bitsetting/book type from DVD+R to DVD-Rom

And I'm guessing you have.. am I right?

Just a guess because i flashed a hitachi tonite, and all the backups ive burnt using my NEC-3520A work flawlessly on both the hitachi drive and my personal samsung..

I too can confirm that my NEC 3500 can burn fully working backups for both Samsung and Hitachi. However, in the last couple of days I've encountered three Hitachis that doesn't read those backups. I know one of them was a 59DH (that's what it said on the drive) and another was a 47-something.

I've been using Traxdata (Ritek?) discs and also a TDK disc. The Traxdata discs have worked on every Samsung and Hitachi except those above, while the TDK did work for all drives.

As previously said, the backup works while the original doesn't (it will with this FW update though).

It's because there is a "better media recognition" since the v2.2 of the firmware. Since I flashed my console with this version, the backups made with other burners than Pioneer also work on mine (they didn't before)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
So I think that you already flashed yours with v2.2 and that the three other Hitachis you tried had a previous version...

(Sorry for my poor english...)

I am fully aware of the new media recognition and that is the reason my backups worked with the Hitachi.

But no, the three "not-working-Hitachis" was aso flashed by me with the v2.2 FW.

Up till now, no one has really tested whether this version fixed the EA game issue. Therefore, anyone that has the original TW07 and had flashed to 2.3 care to share whether it is working?

your guess is correct. The 1W8 firmware for NEC3540 has bitsetting enabled.

Still, this is the 1st hitachi that i encountered that actually reads my NEC backups. The 1W8 firmware has been in the NEC for months now so thats nothing new. All other hitachis i did (with GaryOpa 2.1) refused to boot the NEC/platinum and NEC/verbatim backups. Something with dirty disc (not sure anymore)

There seems to be some confusion in this topic.

Remember this is a maximus release, not a GaryOPA one from what i can see. hence, this is why we have no 64bit compatibility etc.

This topic has more information on this issue:

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=556272

So we have have found Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 original does not work on 2.2. The backup DOES. Future EA games are likely to do the same.

If anyone has the Tiger Woords PGA Tour 07 original disc in PAL please test this!

Also, for your information, the 110 pisses all over the 111, the 111 was just the benchmark drive because that was the newest and most availible pio drive at the time.
