4.1 Firmware Will Not Downgrade With 0800 Disc

For reflashing, turn on the 360 at DOS, put in the 0800 disc, wait for about ten seconds, then ejec the drive and take out the 0800 disc.  Then enter your SAM / MTKFlash commands and flash like normal

For getting the drive to show up in Windows, I always leave the SATA unplugged, pop in the 0800 disc, wait the ten seconds, eject and take out the drive, THEN hotplug the SATA cable back in when Windows is already loading.  Works for me anyways.

sorry for digging up this old topic but I would like to add, Burn the disc using CloneCD at 2.4x. I dont recommend using imgburn as it adds incorrect sectors. Boot from NTFS4DOS as soon as u see the logo turn the box on and eject and put disk in. wait about 10 seconds and eject your disc. Run your commands and you should be good. I used verbatim DVD+R DL media fyi.
