4.1 Firmware Will Not Downgrade With 0800 Disc
« on: October 22, 2006, 06:16:00 PM »

Why do you guys keep having problems with this?  Burn the 0800 iso to DVD+R DL, stick it in the drive for about ten seconds, then take it out, and flash as normal.  It works just fine.

R u sure you did a successful flash to 4.1? Was the key correctly injected? Can't play any disc? Cos there shouldn't be any problem with 4.1 or 4.0 ...

If it is enable008 issue, try to do a read instead of a write so that you don't screw up the drive in case something happen. I had gone from 3.3 to 4.0 and then 4.1, no issue at all. After each flash from 4.0 onwards, i tried to do a test read using the enable0800 each time. Without the disc, it can't work and with it, it works so everything is fine. But of course, in the first place, u have to make sure the enable0800 disc is working. If all failed, had u tried the 10sec trick using a compatible VIA PCI card? Of course, again test with read ...

ImgBurn works just fine... I've burned all my backsups with it and a Pioneer 111D and a Plextor 716A.

you guys must be smoking crack or turds...

ImgBurn is made by the same damn people that put out CloneCD.... has the same chime when a burn is completed..

I thought ImgBurn was originated from DVD Decryptor? ?Hell, the interface is still the same, just that the DVD ripping was removed ...

You're right it works just fine for backups. The Enable0800.iso is a different story though, as its not a backup. I burned it 4 times with ImgBurn and none of them worked (so i couldnt upgrade from 4.0b to 4.1b) but, the first enable0800.iso I burned using cloncd, worked fine..............

Sorry to ruin your party, but I burned the 0800 disc using IMGBurn as well, works perfectly.  Make sure you bitset to DVD-ROM as well.  I know the firmware says you don't have to, but I still do it for all my backups anyways.  The 0800 disc works fine for me.

Sorry to bump up and old thread but I really need an answer please.

I understand that you must either burn with cloneCD or imgburn, I think i´ll choose CloneCD since it seems to work fine, but what I don´t understand is a couple things including how to burn.

You burn to Dual Layer disc, ok, that must be since the security sector is found on the secnd layer?
If so, why is the file so small?

No one ever talks about a layer break for burning this, so that means it shouldn´t be needed?

Is it best to put the 0800 disc before or after you plug the sata to computer?

So let me get this straight.

All you do is put DVD+R DL disc in drive, change booktype (might not be needed please let me know if), burn the iso with clone cd, and follow what ever tutorial i´m suppost to use to either flash again or make windows recognize it? No layerbreak settings, booktype mb, how long will it take to burn?

All help is appreciated, and those those asses who like to say ¨use the search button!¨, trust me, i´ve been looking all over x-s other places and even googling and no luck what so ever, at least this thread is pretty close to what i´m looking for.

thx

EDIT: I did forget to mention I flashed xtreme 4.1b and it´s fully working with originals and backups, but my problems is getting the drive into 0800 to use in windows to make more backups. thx.
