Ms28 Samung Please Help
« on: October 18, 2006, 03:30:00 PM »

hi guys and gals

i have flashed many xbox 360's until i have come across my first ms28 samsung

i have read the guides on this forum

i have all the necessary bits , pci sata vt6421 card , ide cd/dvd drive on the ide channel of the sata card ( mtk chipset ( samsung 616e )

check for mtk chipset in your cd/dvd drive below

http://forum.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?s...;threadid=58518

i have tried the original mtkflash , the one from the link on this page and also i have tried usig the xtreme boot maker with custom mtkflash ( as shown on youtube ) for the vt6421 card

i follow the instructions carefully , power on the 360 , wait then power the pc , but as soon as i type in mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin , my pc goes straight to

Flash Type : SST(SST25VF040)(Serial)
reading.....00%

and then freezes ,

i get no option of choosing which sata option to flash as i hve onboard sata ( sis964 ) and also the sata pci vt6421 card

any help would be more than appreciated

thanks inadvance

i have already tried all of that , if i power on the 360 after the pc , my pc freezes straight away , so i need to power my xbox first , if i type samread xxxxxxx xxxxx ( using a modifed samread mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin ) it gives no option of sata channel and goes straight to reading but then freezes at 0%

thanks

You need to have an mtk-based PC CD/DVD drive in order to use the bad flash recovery method.  It is only detecting the 360 drive and thus starting the dump automatically.  You need MTKFLash to see multiple channels so that it gives you the list and you have time to turn off the 360.

I've always had my LiteOn drives hooked up to the IDE on the motherboard and it's worked fine.  I've never tried hooking it up to the IDE on the card, but some people have reported success only if they did it one way or the other.  Just keep trying different stuff until you get a list in MTKFlash.

i can flash all previous samsungs and hitachis using the onboard sata ( sis 964 ) no problems

but when i have the ms28 ( switched on ) attached to the via vt6421 pci card i get an error message at boot "Hardware initiate failed Please check device!!!!!
The Bios does not to be installed.Press (g) to continue! "

i press g , it then goes to the c prompt

i type mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin and it tries to flash immediately witout giving me any port options

i think this is my problem , i have installed the latest drivers 530c , the card works fine in windows xp , i have a samsung dvd rom drive attached to the sata port port on the card again this works fine in windows

i really need to get this sorted so i would be really greatfull of any help

thank you

Don't turn on the 360 until you get to DOS.  Also, ditch the Samsung drive and use this newly-found hexedit.

the 6421a has 3 sata ports, an external port and 2 internal ports every 6421a card i have seen has this configuration, on this card as verified by several other users obly the rear port works, if u have the 6421L i cant comment on this card but i have also seen others posting saying using the rear port but i have never seen one so i dont know

type mtkflash #c with the xbox drive unplugged and ur pc mtk based dvd or cd drive plugged into ur pc motherboard if u get the sst check back then u have a mtk based drive if it says no drive then u dont have one

make sure u have the correct hex edited mtkflash for your card run xtreem bootmaker if u dont want to hexedit it yourself although it is quite easy dont think that cos u have mtkflash its going to work

you are missing a step or not doing something right disable pnp in the bios some people say this helps although it never mattered for me

disable raid although it never mattered for me

fiestaxr2, have you connected a cable from your pc to the xbox chassis? If not i'd do this. Thats probably why your pc's freezing up when you turn your xbox on in dos. Its the power spike causing floating ground across your pc sata cable thats buggering things up.

Once you've done this, turn the xbox on, boot to dos, type mtkflash command, turn off xbox, hit enter, wait 10 seconds, turn on xbox, job done.

my vt6241a has only 2 internal sata connectors , no external

this is the same as mine http://cgi.ebay.co.u...1QQcmdZViewItem

as stated before my bios setup has no sata configuration other than enabled or disabled , it is a hp pc and they seem to remove most bios settings other than date time etc

thanks
