ok i have 1 question....
since you have the enable0800 cd which unlocks the drive and allows you to dupm the fw....
what if M$ incorporate the contents of the enable0800 cd in their games giving them the ability to unlock the drive and dump the FW ???

Please could someone explain the exact difference between A and B?
Which one is better for originals, and which one for backups?
What's the best choice, or which one is recommended?

Thanks in advance!

A & B read originals exactly the same

A's default read speed for backups is 12x.  Or you can load an original and any backup after it will read at 2-4X until the system is turned off.

B's default read speed for backups is 2-4X.  Or you can load an original and any backup after it will read at 12X until the system is turned off.

As for which is better.... its up to you:
at 12X your backups may not last as long
at 2-4X your load times may be slower

Wish we knew if this "open tray" error was firmware related.  There would be hope that it could be fixed.   grr.gif
Thanks for the release!  love.gif  Your fridge must be right next to your pc.   smile.gif

I agree. I've had Xtreme 1.0, 3.0, 3.3, and now 4.0b. After 2 days of getting Xtreme 1.0 (had open tray ALOT at first) on I pot tweaked my drive. Haven't had any problems at all until I upgraded to 3.3. Then I began to get the open tray error alot more. Now I'm at 4.0b and last night played Dead Rising for 2 hours, then cut it off for an hour to do some work around the house, came back and get open tray. I got open tray again for an hour, I probably tried to boot it 20x and didn't work once.

I'm starting to believe Jayqu3 (rubberband fix mod creator) is correct. He says that it seems that the newer firmwares seem to be reading to far out on the disc. It certainly would make sense. I haven't tried the rubberband fix yet, but I'm sure I will be soon. I honestly feel it HAS to have something to do with the newer firmwares, nothing in my setup has changed at all.

Geat work gonna do my own drive later with this.

Slim

Still wish he'd change to "power on with tray open to enable" instead.  A drive that's stopped reading discs cannot be flashed back to retail if it's been flashed with Xtreme 4.0/4.1/4.2!

What good would a drive that cannot read disks be anyway?

Or do you mean cannot read burned disks but can read originals?

I agree, I just flashed to 4.0a and now 4.1a is out.  And what makes it worse I end up seeing the new firmware like 1am EST, and the sites I use don't have the FW available until about 12-24 hours later, guess I'm getting lame smile.gif

You do know you can use xbins to get it, right? There is no need for you to wait around on a torrent site or something like that. Just follow the link http://www.xbox-scen...yuEpkEAducULcTz
and download XBINS-TIRC

I'm going to like my sata, because I don't have to open my xbox360 anymore to flash smile.gif. In my opinion every day there can be a new firmware smile.gif with new fixes....
by the way. I flashed with the firmware and it works good.

How can you have it setup that you don't have to open the 360 to flash?

If your drive stops reading disks, you don't have to worry about the firmware not flasshing.  It *doesn't* read discs! Who cares if you cannot flash firmware.  Replace the laser.

He might have a SATA cable like mine, http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=516853
I like Textbook's better than mine, his has the SATA ports where the front USB ports are.  cool.gif

you extend the SATA cables from the DVD drive so they are accessible outside the case.  some drill out the back....others put them where the memory cards are supposed to go
