Has anyone found a v78 that has tracks exposed so that it can be soldered to?

Nope all drives since late June both Samsung and Hitachi/Lg now are covered in black glue
covering both the chip pins, the traces and the matching controller pins.

This needs to be removed first before any soldering can be done. Do a search on the 'net
regarding sat. cards and cell phones, this is the same black stuff they have been using on
those products and there is already a number of guides about removing the glue correctly.

Even if they do flash these drives, wont this mean that we will have to remove it and flash it externally in every case?

Can someone explain what the mediadetect jump is?  I flashed with the firmware that has this bug and that description - by itself - doesn't really explain much.
