unsure.gif hey guys its me again ....alright i made the x40b firmware, now i just flash it via mtkflash w /m /sata x40b?

then when i want to crate a backup (of my originals ) i just pop in the 0800 disk??? i read that im not supsoed to have my sata cable hooked into my 360, it taht during the process of getting my drive into 0800 mode, then after all this i just shut off my 360 and i can play back ups again without flashing the x40b to my drive again sorry prolly the same as my last post im just tryin to clear things up thanks in advance. unsure.gif

If they try to read it and it always fails, then you know the drive has FirmGuard and hence is a modded drive. This protects you from your drive being flashed by MS, but doesn't protect you from being detected and banned.

This is what Im worried about, maybe this is more of a hindrance!

M$ could check to see if it can read the firmware. If no, ban. If yes, read it, check it, ban  ph34r.gif

ok..i flashed my drive with 4.0b...but does not like this one sad.gif ... how can i turn back to 3.3 ??

thanks smile.gif

hey,

i was wondering what problems people are having with this 4.0 that make them want to go back to 3.3?

i just dont want to flash new and have some backups not work due to dvddl-media issues.

4.0 sounds great though... thanks commedore!!

I'm guessing that the original MS28 firmware by MS presents this feature, so any MS28 drive would prevent the XBOX360 from reading the firmware. This one just happens to be hacked, but since the original MS28 drive cannot be read either, the XBOX360 wouldn't know if it was a hacked or original firmware (or so I think). Anyone feel free to correct me.

you dont have to hex edit nothing just put youre key in the folder and use Make X40a.bin or which anyone
u like. NOTE this firmware is not campatible with xsam360,hack360 and other flashing programs yet...

you must do it manualy just by making the you new moded key (Make X40a.bin)
on the dos promp just write ( mtkflash w /m x40a.bin ) and you should be good to go

and for the guy who flash it and wants to downgrade follow this steps
1. power youre 360 with out pluging youre sata cable to youre pc
2. put 0800 disk let it spin for a few second's and take the cd out
3. plug the sata cable to the pc and turn youre pc on
4. use the program of youre choice tu put back youre original key.
5. reflash with the extreme firmware of youre choice.

good luck hope it works.....

Thank you, works great!

I'm still not brave enough to plug in the ethernet cable though

so I take it that the really is no way to get a stealth firmware that passes checksums as the original like the Hitachi?

edit: or is this the same way Maximus-Garyopa are doing it with the hitachi drives?

Why not?

If you can hexedit the key you should be able to use X360SAM to do it instead.  If you can't edit X360SAM's batch files to use the XTREM40A.BIN or XTREM40B.BIN, you really shouldn't be meddling with a hexeditor as you've obviously still got a lot to learn.  You'll end up bricking the drive.

If it's not compatible with X360SAM.EXE, why is it (albeit version 0.2, latest is 0.4) included?

Anyone used X360SAM to flash XTREM40A.BIN or XTREM40B.BIN yet?  If you have, say AIIIII!

NOTE TO C4E: I'd strongly recommend using batch files rather than .BIN files.  Someone's bound to try flashing "Make X40a.bin" to their drive...

You don't need to set layerbreak with the 0800 disc, it's only 253mb.  But you still need to burn it to DVD+R DL bitset to DVD-ROM.  Probably doesn't HAVE to be bitset to DVD-ROM, but I always do.  I just burned with IMGBurn, didn't set a layerbreak or anything.  Burning with CloneCD would work just fine as well.

So it won't work if burned to a CDR with Nero?  Remember this'll be for C4E's hack and likely to be less "fussy" than M$ sector checks.

I got hitachi driver with x3.3 firmware... it works werry well, just the dvd makes alot of noice.
I dont see any point of changing the firmware... If I still cant use live it dosent matter if M$ can flash the driver or not.

You'll need to rename the BACKUP.BIN file as ORIG.BIN before clicking on "Make X49a.bin"

put youre original key in the extreme 4 folder and double click on de Make X40a.bin or the other one and that will make ur new modded key

dont rename it because the command to flash youre drive is  (mtkflash w /m x40a.bin ) renaming it will make things harder on you if you do not have the experiance
