You'll need to rename the BACKUP.BIN file as ORIG.BIN before clicking on "Make X49a.bin"

aahhh ok thats why it was not working...thanks....Exobex...

and ichigoxxx for the help....(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

also....with using the command  (mtkflash w /m x40a.bin ) does this mean you can flash it in windows with the drive on the sata

I'm guessing that the original MS28 firmware by MS presents this feature, so any MS28 drive would prevent the XBOX360 from reading the firmware. This one just happens to be hacked, but since the original MS28 drive cannot be read either, the XBOX360 wouldn't know if it was a hacked or original firmware (or so I think). Anyone feel free to correct me.

i agree PIP smile.gif

my other Q is can ya still use the original tricks to get it to read/write (like 10sec,or vcc, or pin 19/20)
think im gonna justr try it !!

No.  Samsung flashing is DOS only.

hey all a few questions that i have
Ive got ms25 flashed to x3.3 with rubber band mod because of open tray error

so

1. does this new firmware by any chance fix that open tray error (cuz i really dont like the fact i gotta rubber band in my box.. lol)

2. can i use the enable 0800 cd from x3.3?

3. say a new xtreme come out.  and i have 4.0.. just to be clear here ..to flash it i would use enable 0800 disc w/o cord plugged to pc, take out disc then power on pc and do standard steps to flash correct?

4. If my primary gameplay consists of backups then would 4.0b provide better performance than 3.3?

5. i see 4.0 has stealth fw but i dont see the point in it if one wants to stay safe and not use xbox live. because like some of you said.. M$ cud poss ban or investigate/prosecute those with fw unreadable.  I'm sure as intelligent as M$ is with their products (for the most part).. they can at least read their factory fw via live.

thanks in advance guys..

what this firmware does is protect you from a possible microsoft firmware upgrade . this could happend tru via dash update or via xboxlive it wont let the xbox 360 to write over exiting firmware  if its not in 0800 mode it protects from a firmware upgrade.

right but how would M$ even update you if u dont connect ur 360 to internet?  New games with built in auto flashers is the only thing i can think of.  I mean tell me if im wrong or if im missin sumthin but the whole stealth fw seems kinda contradictory because a flashed fw im sure will always be detectable by M$ (even if they dont know what it was flashed to im sure they can see somehow its not the orig) thus leading to ban or other measures. so i dont see the point in even having stealth fw. but also

well nobody anwsered pip question, but my guess is the same ..

MS can't read the MS28 firmware, that's why co4eva use this FW as default instead of the ms25.

Plus I read on this board the the read was also disabled on the new hitachi v78

I could use some help here, i'm stuck sad.gif

I flashed my samsung ms25 with the X40a.bin file, I used the mtkflash w /m x40a.bin
But i dont need to use the /m switch, my xbox gives E65 now.
Normally I try to reflash, but with the new protection i cant!

My drive doesnt eject so i cannot insert the enable 0800 disc to enable flashing again.
Is there any workaround for this problem?

Damn that sucks if you read up i was just asking about that cause i have a ms25 as well and  was wondering why (ichigoxxx) had said to flash with the /m switch...but not saying if it was only if you have a ms28.. hope that is not the reason your flash went bad i almost did the same with the /m string sad.gif

Rather than answering users questions that have already been answered in this topic (probably due to users not reading before they post) does anyone know the following

1. does this new firmware by any chance fix that open tray error (cuz i really dont like the fact i gotta rubber band in my box.. lol)

2. Are all enable 0800 cd's the same (3.3 , 4.0)?

3. If my primary gameplay consists of backups then would 4.0b provide better performance than 3.3?

also lenselijertje

u do realize u need to use ur orig.bin and choose make x40.bin to create the new .bin and use that to flash right? it was well explained in this topic already in case u didn't read it. sammys have a horizontal gear under their tray its black.  turn it to manually open drive.

Commodore4eva was actually waiting for the ms28 firmware to emerge... because you see it already had the FirmGuard feature built-in!  All he had to do was copy it - now M$ can't tell whether you have a legit ms28 or a hacked FirmGuard - BRILLIANT!

Exactly like in Die Hard 1 - 'you asked for a miracle... I bring you the F... B ... I :-)'
