Makes me wish I had a Samsung drive in my Xbox.  You guys have all the fun!  Maybe the Hitachi will come close over time.  Great work on the firmware.

Trigg

He did, he wrote the original lg version of xtreme, but he gave up on it after that and left it to Maximus and Opa.

Just had a thought...

Say your Xtreme40-equipped Samsung decides to stop reading discs and you want to send the console back (some of us can get the seals off intact, you know wink.gif ), how do you flash it back to retail if it needs to read the 0800 enable disc first?  Taking the chip off to reflash would leave some pretty obvious evidence on the board (different soldering on one chip compared with everything else there).

I'd prefer a method where powering up with the tray open enables read/write mode.

Just a thought.  Anyway, excellent work C4E, nice to see two versions appearing, too - caters for everyone! beerchug.gif

It's a great work.I believe we're coming to the final FW. The only quesiton is Enable 0800 disk which doesn't work if the drive is bricked. However, i haven't seen any samsung like that smile.gif
Thank you

So basically the stealth firmware prevents M$ to change the samsung's firmware but i think we are still vulnerable from being banned. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

They can't read it either, so they cant detect that it's fake.

What do you mean?  Why couldn't you just put it in Enable0800 mode then flash it to back to original?

The open tray would be a much suitable method for read/write mode.

Great news ... using the idea of M$ against them ! lol ...
but i dont think there plan now is to read and check the firmware as there own drives are like that .. the ms28 in the samsung range, and of course the dreaded 78 in hitachi
.. but its ALWAYS great to see new development in the formwares ..

2 questions, can ya still use the same trick as we had to use before to get around the lock ? in case of the laser going bad.. trick inquestion the pin19/20 grounded on switch on, and relese then read/write ....

and the other question is , whats all this about
Do not have SATA cable plugged into Xbox 360 console when in Enable0800 mode.
what will happern if ya do !!! .... as thats like telling some1 not to look over there shoulder !
(hehe when i firet read it, i read it has dont plug SATA cable into 'drive' when in 0800 moe ! lol)

cheers for another great release !

This is a great move, and relistically probably the last avenue for total security..but, there is still potential for getting detected .....

Ok, so you can't read the firmware without enable 0800 boot disc first - however could microsoft conclude that if they cannot read firmware they can reject you from live all the same.

The rejection could be polite as in "You're console has a fault - please call M$ tech on bla bla bla."

On the other hand M$ could possible based on policy only reject/ban if it has undeniable proof of tamperd firmware - therefore this will be successful.

But as I said, probably this is as safe as it's going to get - all chips are down.

As someone previously suggested, 0800 mode enable by some eject sequence insted of relying on media read would be safer for us plebs.

If MS comes out with a dash that will update your firmware to the original, you don't want to enable 0800 mode and have it plugged into the 360 or it could run this update on it.   He's thinking of the future... if the dashboard update changes the firmware, he's not allowing that to happen.   So he's reminding you not to slip up and allow that to happen.

hi there, i came across somewhere in the forum that you can extract the 'key' out of your existing hitachi drive's firmware and embedded it into the xtreme.bin and flash it back to a sammy tsst-h943a which you can buy off from ebay.  so, you will be able to use all the features from c4eva.....  just a thought!

well, just do a flash of your drive back using your orig.bin the same way as you would do if you flash your drive from orig.bin to xtreme.bin.....  just treat your orig.bin as one of those hacked firmware from xtreme....  hope that will help.....
