with that kind of price you could get a new hitachi from ebay(assuming you have your original firmware)  But if dont have your original firmware this is probably the only fix.

I was wondering: i tryed to flash my 47dj drive, i never eaven got it to pop up in windows! , so with LOADS of different ways, this might be my solution? when i put the drive back in the 360 and switch it on i get the E64 error and the drive refuses to open . Is my drive bricked or what?
Please help me sort things out.

More than likely you killed the drive, but doing the "cross-wire" or plugging in the power cable upside down.
