3114 Sil Ms25 No Detect
« on: October 07, 2006, 04:26:00 PM »

Hello,

I wonder if you have any ideas what the editing would be for this 3114, Im using MKT flash, and the first 4 bytes are correct when i checked in hex editor.

Name   Silicon Image SiI 3114 SATARaid Controller
Manufacturer   Silicon Image
Status   OK
PNP Device ID   PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3114&SUBSYS_90181695&REV_02\4&1674F76A&0&6040
I/O Port   0x0000CC68-0x0000CC6F
I/O Port   0x0000CC5C-0x0000CC5F
I/O Port   0x0000CC60-0x0000CC67
I/O Port   0x0000C400-0x0000C403
I/O Port   0x0000CC70-0x0000CC7F
Memory Address   0xE9081000-0xE90813FF
IRQ Channel   IRQ 16
Driver   c:\windows\system32\drivers\si3114r.sys (1, 0, 15, 0, 100.75 KB (103,168 bytes), 10/04/2006 19:08)

does anyone have a 3114 mtk edited flash? I am going crazy with this, I have tried many ways, also tried this on a VIA 6421A with no success, so now im on my mates 3114, which i believe it possible with a correct MTK. its showing the sammy drive up bios.

really my Question is which of the 5 lines would i choose. I can only see one of them with a 7 byte difference. which is line 3

Your help on getting my bin of my drive would be appreciated

Cheers

Still had no sucess with this sil 3114, I tried Many variations of MTKflash, and checked the hex, which seems to show the correct 4 bytes, for a sil 3114. but wont have it, I also have a VIA 6241A pci card, but that wont detect drive, but i got it nearly read the bin using my 6241A, but wouldnt quire get it, it saw chip on sammy, but failed I/O, i was using geremia MTKFLASH for VIA's

Any help would be appreciated.

Ive used Xtreme Boot Maker and hex edited it. I get to the screen where it detects my Si3114 Controller but when I select it it sits at a screen and says Port: a000 Master/Slave: a0

It was stated in the early releases of the Samsung hack to DO NOT USE A 3112 or 3114 chipset to try flashing a Sammy. One will never flash it, the other is buggy and can kill your drive. AFAIK they both work on a Hitachi, I have a 3512 for flashing Hitachi. I recommend you guys get the VIA 6421L card.

You can edit your mtkflash.exe with a hex editor with the following code for your SATA chipset's address:

9510 1431 68CC 60CC

It should see it when you boot up to DOS after that. Remember, if it doesn't, try just plugging ONLY your xbox into the motherboard and disconnect every other device.

Use Xtreme Boot Maker 3.5.
http://www.x-projects.org/request.php?12

Xtreme Boot Maker is a simple program that will prepare a floppy or USB drive
for use with X360SAM.
- Auto-detects your SATA/RAID controller and hex-edits MTKFlash (if needed)
for your chipset.
- Formats your floppy/usb drive and copies all necessary files over.
- Uses X360SAM 0.4.
- MD5 checker when selecting your firmware lets you know your firmware is legit
- Updateable Firmware definitions.
- Renames the firmware you load to xtreme.bin, uses custom .bat files.
- Will work with all existing Xtreme fw's and future releases. (I Hope)
- Can be used with NTFS cd's, creates a folder on your hdd.
- Added: Option for MS28 Bad Flash Recovery
- Added: Option to apply Boke's MS28 single device hack
Xtreme Boot Maker v0.3.5

Choose hack firmware that you will flash the drive with

choose custom MTKFlash pick your SATA controller, and
hit Detect ID I/O
check both boxes for the
MS28 Bad Flash method
Boke's Hexedit
format and make bootable usb or floppy.

Make sure you connect your xbox 360 sata connection to
the sata port on the via sata card the port towards
your harddrive or toward the front of your case.

Connect a PC CD or DVD drive on the VIA Sata card IDE channel
(must use MTK chipset - most do - NOT Pioneer - all Liteons work)
you must a have media tek optical drive connected
to the SATA cards IDE port for ms28 bad flash
you have to plug a mtk based dvd drive into the
ide port on the sata card.

Boot into DOS with xbox 360 off
when at command prompt
turn on 360, type SAMREAD 1234567 12345 (using your
Xbox 360 serial number found on the back of the case near the A/V port)

To follow this through you will need the following
Extreme boot maker 3.5
Hacked upto date Extreme firmware bin file
A pc with SATA controller (or a sata card) Preferably Via
An xbox360
-------------------------------------------------------------

MAKING AN EXTREME BOOT DISC
---------------------------
Extreme boot maker prepares a usb or floppy boot disc specifically matching your Sata chipset.

0. Insert floppy or USB drive into pc
1. Run extreme boot maker
2. open hacked firmware bin file
3. tick "use custom mtkflash"
4. select "via" sata controller from drop down menu
5. click "detect ID"
6. Select USB drive, drive letter
7. tick "format and make bootable disk"
hit prepare.

--------------------------------------------------------------
With ms28 you MUST use /sata switch in MTKflash
The next section can be missed out with ms25 drives.
--------------------------------------------------------------

Editing files for flashing ms28 on USB stick/Floppy prepared with extreme boot maker
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

edit samread
where it says MTkflash r /m
add a space and /sata
save it

edit samhack
where it says MTFlash w /m
add a space and /sata
save it

---------------------------------------------------------------

Reading and Flashing
----------------------------
Unplug xbox360's dvd drive sata cable

Disconnect your pc sata harddisc cable and plug in into the xbox360 dvd drive.

Make sure you have a cable to stop "floating ground" going to both pc and 360 chassis.

Make sure Video cable from 360 plugged into xbox 360 and 360 power cable plugged in.

NOTE: The following Sections 7 and 9 can be missed out on a ms25 flashed Toshiba/Samsung TSH943 drive as you don't need to turn the xbox360 on and off.

The following "bad flash recovery method" only works with via sata chipsets and is specifically for Toshiba/Samsung TSH943 with the original MS28 firmware.

*THE READING*

1. Turn on pc first
2. Boot from usb (or floppy) disc made with extreme boot maker

Dexter Harvey, stop posting the same snippet from a tutorial all over the site. Maybe you should read the problem and try to address it rather than post a tutorial every time, at least link to the thread rather than fill half a page every time. And if you had read the posts you would see that there is no point in editing anything, 3112 and 3114 chipsets don't work for flashing a Samsung. Everything you posted doesn't have shit to do with thier situation anyway.

Agreed, it was getting annoying having to scroll through threads where that was pasted.  Dexter Harvey, just link to the tutorial you're pasting from instead of filling up threads.  As for this thread, cerealkillajme is right.  Buy a VIA 6421L card and save yourself a headache.  A very few amount of people have been able to flash a Samsung using an onboard 3114.  I think they had to flash their BIOS/SATA controller with an IDE BIOS or something.  It isn't really worth all the trouble.  (And I don't have a SIL chipset, so I'm not sure how to do it)  SIL is pretty much a no-go for Samsungs.
