some people find that cheap media works and others swear by verbs its your choice as its all testing and nothing is set in stone some people have problems with verbs too it your choice and follow tutorials that will help

I absolutely agree. You never know if you're going to get a good batch of media, no matter what brand discs they are. For instance, I just recently went thru a stack of CMC discs with 0 coasters. Also, it helps a ton if you update your burner with the latest firmware. BTW I'm burning with a Benq DW1620 burner.

Thanks C4E, GaryOpa, Maximus and all for your time and input!

After months of reading and waiting....waiting and reading...etc. etc.  I've finally taken the plunge and the process went smoothly (after reinstalling some buggered i386 files in Windows).

Just a brief rundown of what I was working with...

ASUS mobo with onboard SATA (P4 series)
Windows MCE
Xeno Connectivity kit
Hitachi 47DJ 360 drive

Now I can put my Pioneer 111D to work.  And also change my sig. wink.gif

Thanks again for everyone's help and knowledge.

I haven't flashed my drive yet and was looking about to see what firmware to flash it with.

It's an Hitachi and everyone says this is the best.

However, people also mention 'Birdys' because of the media patch.

Does this latest Garyopa firmware have such a patch (I know it says it does), but just double checking? Is compatability still good.

I got an HP 840b writer and going to get some Verbatims (but would like to know if I could get anything cheaper).

Thanks.

thats the burner i have on my pc, it wouldn't bit set, i got a pioneer 111d now though

I was thinking of doing mine as i have already done it for other people when i heard about the new dashboard coming out for the xbox 360.

It will be an auto update that everyone will have to do, even if your xbox is not connected to the internet.
It will be added to the new games that come out from winter 2006 and onwards.

So what is making me think about is why does everyone have to have this update, is it going to contain some new code that will be able to check your firmware for any changes made to it.

It might have something to do with the new HD-DVD ROM drive that is coming out for the xbox 360 this christmas.

Can anyone else share any information about this upcoming update?

As for the release of the firmware updates - great work everyone (maximus - garyopa) keep up the good work.

Is there any other difference between the 'FLASH15S.BAT' and 'FLASH22S.BAT' apart from the f900 core? Is flash15s crapper, better or is the exact same thing as flash22s just without the f900 core? The f900 is ONLY required for ripping and extracting right?

If this has already been answered before i apologise but i did not spot it.
Cheers

Hi, can anyone please be kind enough to educate my newbie brain on what this means from the features list of this FW nfo file:

-Boots all Xtreme Xbox 360 backups

Does that mean my Hitachi box will (could?) be able to read backups that were done with my roommate's ms25 Samsung which was flashed with the xtreme FW?

Not sure I understand, I'm still new and did load of reading but I'm missing quite a few details about the backup part.

Thanks for clarifying...

Hi people,

After a little help here...

This is the first time I've tried to flash my 360. I'm up to the stage where my drive is in modeb. I've downloaded the rar file from some torrent site and I'm having trouble getting to actual flashing part to work.

After I enter the "FLASH22S.BAT H 1572" part (obviously changed to my drive letter) into the command line, it comes up with an error saying that an XTREME file is missing. It also says to get the latest version and unpack it again. I've done that but I'm still getting the error.

Any ideas?

Many thanks,

Many many thanks to Garyopa and the other guys for their hard work for us to play all the perfect games on our xbox360!It works perfectly!!!!!!!

One question:What kind of stealth we need to play in the future in Xboxlive with backups without fear?
Media stealth?Firmware staelth?Media patch?What?
Please answer.Thanks again...

Stealth media is the most important one. And the way it currently stands, the Samsung is the only one capable of that. Stealth firmware is good and all but we don't even know whether microsoft can check the firmware properly or will ever be able to. On the other hand, checking the media is a 100% detection method which is why stealth media is so important. Luckily Microsoft don't run any of the media checks just yet but this could all change after the dash update.

Kudos to Gary and Co for stealthing our firmware but when are we going to see stealth media? Time is running out my friends, with a dash update in the pipeline, none of us are safe just yet.

I found an issue after upgrading to this new firmware onto the Hitachi drive.

My original xbox 360 game disks wont load after disc is inserted
and it will say "reading" on the dashboard and will continue trying to read the disc forever.

The technique I used to upgrade the firmware:

Hitachi-LG 59

Xecuter x360 USB Connectivity Kit v2.
Windows XP assigned drive letter (J) for the Hitachi
On the ODD adapter Mode B switch is down (LED is RED)
ODD, EJECT switch is UP (Tray open)   <- NOTE: Was told EJECT doesn't need to be UP when using this firmware? TRUE or FALSE?Updated firmware complete, flash complete, received the DONE and PASS line message.

Now it won't read originals.
Games I tried: Splinter Cell Double Agent, Battlefield 2
All games worked before firmware upgrade.

Is there anything that I am doing wrong or is it some sort of bug?
Anyone who knows what's up or has had this problem in the past, please let me know.

-Right On in advance

Oops! Correction my drive is a 58DJ not a 59.
I flashed it with the OPA xtreme 2.1 and it will read the originals; OPA xtreme 2.2 is the problem with reading the originals on the 58DJ Hitachi Drive.... ANY CLUES ABOUT THIS?

Download the revised .bats & replace the ones in your original folder with the new ones. They were released the day after the original 2.2 was.

I have an Hitachi-LG 58DJ dvd drive and then flashed it with 2.2 with revised bats incorporated into same folder as 2.2 firmware... tried playing originals and backups and turns out both will not load... just keeps reading the discs.... anyone know what's up?

Later, restored back to original firmware and then flashed v2.3 hoping it would make a difference but it sure didn't, just did the same thing as the v2.2... please, help!

and later later, restored back to original and flashed with v2.1 which documents that it supports 58 drives, and all originals and backups work... what's up with the v2.2 and v2.3 not supporting the 58 drive?

Although great work on these firmware break throughs!
