« Reply #45 on: November 14, 2006, 06:42:00 PM »

I bricked my old Hitachi GDR-3120L about 4 months ago And decided to order a new Toshiba TS-H943. I have the original bin from my hitachi!  Will this tutorial work or is their an easier way to patch the new key to the samsung?

once you have got the key correctly from the hitachi fw you simply insert it into the samsung fw and flash the complete fw image to the drive, no encryption is used for samsung.

and ps the link for the tutorial is still the same as the one on page 3

http://38.119.88.37/...torial_v1.2.PDF

its not hard to find it ie read the post!!

Great tutorial, I am eagerly awaiting my new 47DJ driver, will use this tut.

Question, can I use this procedure instead of running RESTORE.BAT to fully
restore my original firmware onto the drive??

The reason for me bricking my drive was because the RESTORE process hung
when restoring from Maximus GaryOPA 2.2 Stealth.

I also read others have experienced the same, so if putting your DVD-Drive
back into it's original state can also be done with this procedure, why not?

The RESTORE process goes through many steps, this only uses 1 !! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

is any chance gazcoigne can help with maximus toolbox 2.0 and 0078fk drive?
expecting programmer soon, got spare chips and ready to go.
i can read chip with programmer, and get floating key with toolbox 2.0.
not really sure correct steps/stages in using toolbox 2.0 to prepare hacked firmware and key insertion.
do i just load xtreme v1.6 (currently recommended for 78fk) into toolbox 2.0 and copy and paste my own original key into box then encrypt?

any help please!

nice tut.  friend of mines drive has packed in.  reads cdr and normal dvds  but no games (used to just failed one day)  can hear a horrid scratching noise like its trying to read.  but allways fails.   hes gone to get a new drive and muggens here got the job to fit it (hehe).    been looking for hints on this then found this tut.  exelenet work on it gaz saved it local so when I do the drive I dont have to hunt it down.  but it looks straight foward enough.

Yeah save the tut because you never know when you will need it. Gazcoigne's tut saved my 360 from turning into a permanent doorstop. The tutorial is pretty easy to understand and straight-forward. Great work Gaz and thanks again.  beerchug.gif  beerchug.gif

Yeah, most swapping of drives will require you to change the drive model other than injecting the key alone. Maybe can ask myfranco to help out with the tutorial since we spent some time discussing on the various aspect and the most important, he verified the swapping of samsung to hitachi drive at the following thread http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?sho...9861&st=135
