No offense, but that confuses me.

What 'progress' have you been watching?

They've already completed the firmware to remove and flash 78 chips

And what other hitachi stuff has reported 'progress' in weeks? (or months)

I agree though. Where IS xboxhacker.

Well to my knowledge Garyopa and others were working on software so the chip removal method wouldn't
be required??? There was going to be a new firmware release also as the 1.6 still had some problems!

Now xboxhacker.net is passworded, so somethings up!

Ohhhh I see what you're thinking now... How opa said a few times (long ago, that's why I forgot) that he was *trying* at 78 software since all normal ways are now blocked.

However he never spoke of any 'progress' he'd made on it, that I remember. (Did he? Aside from recieving a drive months ago?)

I've seen "Be patient... I'm trying" statements, but no 'progress' news. I never really took those statements for updates, without talking of any actual "progress" at success..

I suppose I actually don't even remember an "I'm trying" for a couple of weeks.

I'm not saying it's definitely never coming, but news of even trying it has certainly fizzled right? I'd love for Garyopa to come out with it against my expectations though.

I would probably literally dance in joy. Especially since, before the 78 focus, all other hitachi fws (a huge majority of hitachis) were about to get media stealth, and could finally be guarded.

Yeah I saw the XBH password thing too. I also noticed it says "XBH temp closed".
I would suppose that means members can't get back in yet.
Will there be a way for old users to get back on? Anyone know?

I agree with the post above!

Just to make it clear, it's not my meaning to stress or nag you, garyopa, I just wanna know if you've made any progress with your 0078fk drive. If i'm getting this right, theres many people waiting for a "software-flash-method-thing", and i'm one of them  happy.gif  Thanks for good work gary!   smile.gif

Sorry guys, this is gonna sound stupid, as im a noob...

Do you folks mean you're waiting for an alternative to the removing and reprogramming the chip method? As in, the same as the other drives, just sata, flash and away we go? Or am I misreading?

The reason i ask is cos my new 360, arriving in an hour may well be a 78, and I REALLY dont wanna go down the removing chip road!

I couldnt said it better myself smile.gif As you probably read, the only way to flash a 0078fk-drive today is by removing and program it external, wich is VERY tricky! Garyopa is working on a software-method, and hopefully he will succeed soon smile.gif

I think people may be relying too much on that without really knowing, and becoming dependant on an unsure thing

I'm not saying it will definitely never come, and on the other hand I want to point out...

It has been months since opa reported trying this, without any news of "success" or "progress". Gary's masterful successes in the past have seemed to happen in mere days, with "updates" as the security was broken...  And since this started, word from gary has pretty much steadily fizzled away. (No negative meaning whatsoever. Merely stating the circumstance.)

To me, that says maybe ms locked software read/write airtight this time, because opa is extremely talented.

I sort of wish other hitachi fws were focused on, if that's the case, because then at least most hitachis would be completely ms-guarded. (not saying that with a negative connotation either)

What i'm saying is, at this point it would probably do us some good to get used to the idea that removal-flashing is all we have. (Even if this is coming, which no one truly 'knows'.) High expectations lessen victories and magnify let-downs. Focusing on we CAN definitely currently do may be the best thing.

Time is certainly going on... Those of you hanging on for a software method might have no choice but to start seeking out those few who can do them the hard way and bite the bullet.
