Now done 3 x 0078FK's and all working fine using programmer etc so Im a happy bunny  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

As to backups, should be straight forward to do, personally I use

Pioneer 111D 1.29FW (non modified)
Samsung 163 with Kreon 0.8
Verb / Mirror / RiDisk and Ritek all work fine on mine but other consoles dont like the RiDiscs. Seems Verbs & Mirror are the best atm.

PC Spec is :-

AMD 4400+ x2 Duel Core
2GB RAM
1.3TB HDD Space (2x320 sata 1x160 sata 2x250 ide)
Gforce 7950GX2
Pioneer 111D
Samsung 163
VIA 6421 SATA PCI Controller
and assorted bits.

All on XP MC

Sorry no advice on HOW I backup, ther's plenty of info out there. ONLY BACKUP ORIGINALS YOU OWN !!!

Is there anyoen up yorkshire way that could do a 78fk for me.  Im not to good with the rework so i dont want to knack it up.

Hi Guys,

I am based in Wolverhampton, West Mids if anyone needs any 0078FK Drives doing?

I have successfully done 15 now and all work perfectly with no ruined ones!!!!

I remove the original chip, extract the key, Insert it into the Maximus 1.6 F/W using the toolbox then encrypt the .bin file. Then i send the new F/W to a replacement SST39VF020 TSOP and all done with a rework station and a Willem programmer and tested. My philosophy is, if the drive powers up and ejects after the mod using the Team Xecutor Connectivity Kit the flash has worked. This way i do not need the whole xbox just the drive and it works every time!!

If anyone is in real need of getting a 0078fk drive done pm me for details.

Sorry for advertising my services but these drives are getting ever so common and ppl are stuck with them unless they fancy doing it themselves?? Sorry if the moderators do not agree with my post :-(

Just curious, but is it now possible to remove the chip and dump it.  Then using an older drive such as 47dh copy the key and whatever necessary to the older drive and have it work? Has anyone done this?

You would have been able to do that until the last update from M$.

When you first turn on the 360 it logs what type of drive is in the unit, so if you now get your key and change to a earlier Hit LG drive or Sammy drive the box will know you have changed it and give you red lights.

This is what happened to all the sammy v28 users running the old firmware hack which was based on the v25 firmware.

Saying that if you have gone to all the hastle of getting your key by getting the chip out why would you not flash it and run the hacked firmware??

Perhaps we may see a software hack as a xmas present from the modders.

yeah, you can edit the firmware to show as a different revision though and it works, ive done it a couple of times.l

for instance make a 47 drive , look to the console as an 078 drive.  and it works after the update, not really worth it though, unless of course you fook your 078 drive.

but it can be done, and work past the fall update

Hitachi <> hitachi  ,  hitachi <> samsung  , samsung <> hitachi , samsung <>samsung all of them is possible now.I've done 47>59 and 47>samsung ms25 .You can find the tutorial here.

where abouts in wolvs do u live.. im from Walsall so not far (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) - im gonna buy a brand new xbox 360- and looking to mod it; i've checked it comes with the hitachi drive-most likely the 0078fk.

Still nothing on the software utility side of things.  

Best I am hoping for now is a util to read the key BEFORE having to remove the chip  

BTW if your nr Leicester then I can help with the 0078FK problem until a software method is available.
