Transfer Mame folder with roms to:  \\Xbox\e\Apps\Emulators

then take mame.ini and move it to: \\Xbox\c

reboot

haven't edited mame.ini because the f.a.q on mame says it's not necesary

mame does not only won't run I can't find it anywhere on the emulator section on my dashboard.

What the fuck? dud you are way off on this thing.

First off forget about mame-x it is a really old project which was great at the time but has not been updated in a very long time. Get the most recent version of mameox from xbins it uses the mame v.84 rom set and has a ton of features that are lacking in mame-x. After you get it unzip the file and take the entire contents of the folder and ftp it to your xbox. A good place to put this would be somewhere like E:/emulators/mame. Put all of the files from the .zip in that folder and don't worry about editing any .ini files associated with mame. Put all of your game roms into E:/emulators/mame/roms wich is the default directory that mame looks for roms. You might need to edit your avalaunch.xml file to look for your emulators there. The edited part of your avalaunch .ini should look somthing like this.

                      </list>
      <list presetname="Emulators">
            <path>
               E:\emulators
            </path>
         </list>

This will make avalaunch add a section called emulators to your launch menu and ava will look in all sub directories in E:/emulators for any default.xbe files to launch.You don't have to use this directory exactly you can put it anywhere you want but it's just an example of how to get avalaunch to see your emulators and make the whole thing work.

Ok , so I got the files from xbins are this files to be compiled?

if not , which of the files do I need?

MAMEoX_v0.84.b3_updated  or  MAMEoX_v0.84.b3_binary or both?

I tried using MAMEoX_v0.84.b3_binary with no luck

I'm using avalaunch that I installed from slayer's ISO and then replaced evox dash in order tho have only avalaunch running, anyway  the dash already has the emulators installed and the avalaunch.xml file already has the

</list>
<list presetname="Emulators">
<path>
E:\emulators
</path>
</list>

path in it but still I can't get it to show me the MAMEoX folder

please advise.

Again, I added this to my avalaunch.xml file just out of curiosity
</list>
<list presetname="MAMEoX">
<path>
E:\Apps\Emulators\MAMEoX
</path>
</list>

so now I do have a display in avalaunch that says MAMEoX but the folder is empty the path is correct the only thing that I find missing from the res of my emus is that the MAMEoX Folder does NOT have an .INI file so I guess this must be my problem.

am I rigth??

if so where is this file to be found , I have downloaded

MAMEoX_v0.84.b3_updated
MAMEoX_v0.84.b3_binary
MAMEoX_v0.84.3b_sources

ad none have a mameox.ini file the only one I fnd is inide the general folder and it's called
catver.ini

still at a loss here, so any advise is apreciated.

H.

1) download and unzip MAMEoX_v0.84.b3_updated

2) upload all files contained in that zip file to E:\emulators\mame

3) leave the emulator section like this

</list>
<list presetname="Emulators">
<path>
E:\emulators
</path>
</list>

4) do not worry about .ini files if the emulator didn't come with one it doesn't need it

5) put all roms in E:\emulators\mame\roms

6) reset and play

well for some weird reason I can't get it to work

I have followed directions to the letter and still can't see the mame folder

Now I have 2 secctions in avalaunch that are named emulators the one that slayer does E:\Apps\emulators\  in which I have the other working emulators , atari, nes, coleco etc.

and the one I did E:\emulators\  that has the mame folder but just won't show in the console.

I tried putting the mame folder in with the other emus with the same results
