Reason I say that, c4e states in his "explanation of stealth backups" that if you put a stealth backup in an Xtreme 1.0 flashed 360 it will play, but it will not appear as an original.

That's an interesting statement, I must have missed that.  Well now I'm confused, because others were saying that Stealth backups won't work in a Hitachi (yet).  According to that statement by C4E, they should still work even if the Hitachi doesn't "support" stealth media yet ?  My friend wanted me to backup his Madden for him, and I made them non-stealth backups because he has a Hitachi and I heard stealth doesn't work with Hitachi yet.  So who has tried a stealth in a Hitachi?

I've got a stealth backup of my Madden 07 and it runs fine in my hitachi - I used GaryOpas to flash, then used the "make stealth" utility to stealth my firmware though - don't know if this makes a difference, but I haven't had a problem with stealth backups biggrin.gif

Maybe someone misunderstood my question...

All xtreme style backups add the SS at the last sector of video partition. To make an iso stealth you add the DMI and PFI on the two sectors preceding the SS. So in other words, the last 3 sectors of video partition contain DMI, PFI and SS. Having the DMI and PFI does nothing to affect the operation of the game since this is video partition. The stealth firmware (as far as I understand) also prevents reading out of these DMI PFI and SS sectors directly in the video partition (they normally do not live there so MS would have possibly been able to request those sectors). Using a non-stealth firmware won't matter as long as the SS is in its correct sector (it just ignores the DMI and PFI) - so go ahead and make all your ISOs stealth for hopes that it will be supported on Hitachi soon.

The NME360 looks for the SS in a completely different location (go read on their site for the reason... briefly has to do with it is easier to modify with less wires if address was similar to original). This spot happens to be at the end of layer2, which is the end of the ISO (that is why it only takes couple seconds to add it). Their utility (and SS Merger 1.7) adds existing SS there without affecting/modifying/deleting any of the xtreme SS. I presume that this sector doesn't coincidentally line-up with their desired offset so they most likely pad a few sectors in-between the end of the iso and their SS.

So now because the checkbox to make NME is always checked by default in SS 1.7, it should always be adding this SS to the end so it is more "universal" - both Xtreme firmware and NME-360 can use it. This will not affect playback using OPA or Xtreme but I ask... by putting this SS there, will MS able to detect it now? Will c4e's stealth firmware block this last sector from being checked or will adding this break the current stealth firmwares?
