You could try the Slax Frodo version first, just have your 360 dvd drive connected via SATA to your computer and supply the power from the 360 itself (you'll want to have the a/v cable connected so it doesn't automatically turn off after a while.  The way I knew mine was in modeb was the led in the center of the circle was flashing rapidly.  Your second best bet would be to go out and buy the Connectivity Kit, not sure how it's done there.  And as a last resort is the 2 wire method, not exactly sure how that ones done either as the Slax disc worked for me.

Hope that helped.

Don't use the two wire trick, you'd rather take the drive to a modshop and pay 20$ for the flash, believe me!!

Anyway, take cilo911's advice, give the Slax CD a try, if it doesn't work, keep trying with different setups.
Otherwise buy the Executer Connectivity Kit, or get it done at someone with experience.

EDIT:

Use the latest GaryOPA release, everyone knows it is stable for all versions, and has a pretty low bricking-rate.
(basically if you brick it with this release, you are either a monkey or a moron... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif))

The best and easiest way to flash your drive perfect 100% is to buy the Conectivity kit. I can assure you you'll encounter no problems what so ever aslong as you follow the tutorials correctly.

I just did my first Hitachi last week. I used the XENO connectivity kit ($19.99) and a USB to SATA adapter.  MY PC was allready booted, I have both of my SATA ports on the mobo filled with dual 160 GB Hard Drives. I connected the adapter to my PC's power supply. Then I plugged in the XBOX360 drive to the adapter power plug. Then I pressed the MODE button on the adapter to put it in MODE B, waited a few seconds and plugged in the USB end of the adapter. It was immediatly detected!!. I ran GARY 7in1 flash in
windows and it flashed my XBOX360 DVD ROM. That was very easy. 5 min or less. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Hello

You say you have a PCI Sata Card?  Perhaps we have the same card - here is the link to the instructions I was able to whip together to get my Hitachi to work with my PCI card:

Best of luck (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

slax *may* not get through the entire process on your PC - but if you see it trying to put the drive in mode B (it will say it on the screen) wait until it gets past that point and you're good - you might not get to the login screen - mine never got past an IRQ error but it did successfully change the drive - remeber to reboot your computer (remove the cd first) after you see the mode B message, but leave the power on to the 360 - let it boot into windows and if you see the drive, kudos!

Yes you can. I didn't recall ever reading anything about flashing a Hitachi via USB, if anything I heard it was not possible. I have a SATA to USB adapter I bought on E-bay for $25.00. I was using this with my SAMSUNG because my PC simply refuses to detect my XBOX360 DVD drive. If I use this USB adapter I just plug the drive into power, sit for a couple of seconds and then plug in the USB and it shows up. Also, the Enable 0800 disc works as well. Back to the Hitachi. Like I said, I had the adapter and my son decided he wanted me to flash the drive in his 360, which happened to be an Hitachi. I had no experience with this drive so I tried the SATA to USB adapter by plugging in the power, press the mode B button on the XENO and then plug in the USB to your PC and it shows up in windows, then you simply run the 7 in 1 flash and it works perfectly, I really did not think this would work. I believe this only works with Hitachi because I dont think there is a Windows flasher for Samsung. Somebody please correct me if I am Wrong.(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

No correction, that's exactly correct.

To BKBeaner, I used 2-wire trick because Slax wouldn't work and I'm too cheap to buy a conn. kit.  I don't buy stuff if there is a free alternative.
