well... I went ahead and flashed my 2 360 consoles with this firmware and both
bricked..

no actually it fucking works as indicated.. all my backups spin up like a freaking
T-55 turbo... cool.gif

one of my 360's has the Ghost case... with the clear DVD top.. damn talk about
a spin.. and the air that's being generated by the highspeed disc spin...

so what's the next big leap in upcoming upgrades??

does anyone know if a "media check" is in the works like for the hitachi. my backups boot fine in my nephews hitachi but not everytime in my sammy. when inserted into my sammy i hear a "scratch" noise. if i remember correctly this meant its not reading the ss . is that right ? anyone's help appreciated.

Yea, you are definitely going to need better burns if you expect them to fully read at 12x. You can get by with lower quality burns if the reading speed is slower, which is why some people are having problems now when reading at full speed. I make sure mine are perfect and I haven't had any kind of problem reading with 3.0 and now 3.2.

I'd recommend doing a media scan with something like Nero CD-DVD to make sure your burns don't suck.
Here is one burn that plays perfectly with 3.2 (as it should, since it's just as good, if not better, as a retail pressed DVD) on Verbatims: http://img154.images...untitledcw0.png

If you have a BenQ drive, I highly recommend getting QSuite and turning *OFF* WOPC since it degrades writing quality when burning at less than 8x speed (like 4x and 2.4x).

Wow, the load times in Dead Rising seem like they're cut in half with this, definitely a noticible difference.  Thanks.

I've burned my backups at MAX speed both on my Plextor and Pioneer with
Verbatim discs and they all play fine on the Samsung with 3.2.

Must be a stroke of luck...

and I still use the WxRipper method in making my backups...

Until I get a spare 360 drive to use for making backups, I'm
not going to keep opening up my 360 to get access to the
drive..

So how do you make "GOOD BURNS" to work with the new FW, I mean my friend updated to 3.0 and half the games wont read with it.  Yet all the games were burnt with the same DVD's and program and DVD drive, I dont get it, I dont think it's worth the upgrade if half the games wont play.

It's possible that the media patch caused problems with certain burns, but not likely.  I've gone throught he whole routine of flashes on the samsung (1,2,3,3.1,and 3.2) and my sammy's ability to play them remains unchanged.  I occaisionally have issues with HP media burned from my NEC and never any issues with verbatim burned on either my nec or my pioneer.  In general if you're having problems, you're getting too many errors on the dvd.  Either use better media, slower speeds, or a better burner.

On a side note: Flashed the 3.2 and I can confirm read times are full-speed.  Burnout intro does not skip constantly as it was before.  Dead rising loads way faster.  Thanks geremania (sp?) and c4e!

If you have your orig.bin still from when you did your 1st flash just use x360sam.exe passing it the location of your orig.bin file then the second parameter of the xtreme32.bin and the 3rd the output file of a 3.2 firmware which will end up with your drive's key.  Once this is done flash the new modified firmware (3rd parameter name of the x360sam command) to your drive.
Can't you just use SAMREAD to get the fw you already have flashed(lets say v1.0), then just use SAMHACK to overwrite with the new fw? Im speaking from the floppy of course....

Ok, i don't know if this is just me or not but something weird happened after updating from 3.0 to 3.2. With v3.0 Dead Rising is Full Screen. With v3.2 it has the black bars on the top and bottom and it looks a little more grainy than before. Has anyone else noticed anything like this?

Yes you are correct.  There are many ways to do this.  Both of these will work fine

Just curious...
If 3.2 allows backups to spin at the full speed of originals, then how can this be any more damaging to the drive than just playing originals on an unmodified firmware?

because it takes two different wavelengths to read the two different types of disks. the same reason the original xbox could read pressed audio cd's but couldnt read cd-r's.

i dont know 100% but this is why i would be worried. *shrug*
