Xtreme Firmware v3.2 for TS-H943 Xbox 360
« Reply #45 on: August 29, 2006, 02:27:00 PM »

A little background first.  I started the mod at version 1.0 and like a bunch of people I would get open tray errors after playing backups for any ammount of time.  I could play original all the time and backups only when the system was booting from a cold boot.  I fixed this problem by tweaking my dvd pot.  After tweaking my pot I was able to play backups and originals anytime after cold boot and after hours and hours of game time. I updated my 360 to 3.0 the night it came out seen it had stealth media checks.  Everything worked great.  Then a odd thing happened when I updated to 3.2 from 3.0
I manually editted the firmware
I was able to play my original of FN3
I tried a legal backup of Burnout revenge  (because that game had horrible load times as a backup) and the game would give me a open tray error.
I tried a new legal backup of Saints Row and that worked great.  I tried a legal backup of Graw and that gave me an open tray error.  I tried a legal backup of Amped 3 and that worked fine.  I just don't get it.  Anybody has similar exp?

I tested both 30 and 32 and the 32 is about 30~40% faster in dead rising (i wanted to make a recording of both loading but my record program overwrite the first recording with the second one -.-;;;) but the 30 makes alot less sound

edit: oh and i never got a disc read error with my media (RITEK04 or something like that) but the boot rate is now about 80% (i didn't got a read error yet ingame)

What was the boot rate before 3.2?  Better or worse?

For me it is worse, but still its worth the faster loading (and less stutter in certain games that constantly stream data from the disc)

Has anyone used the automatic drive key program that was included in the zip?

I assume so but i was gonna ask before flashing. It seems a good idea to put this in with the firmware to avoid all this confusion over which areas contain the key.

Yes I tried the automatic drive key program, flashed my drive, and it worked.

This firmware really rocks! diskspeed is as fast as original, the problems i had with oblivion and burnout are solved!

i agree man. I do feel extremely bad for commodore4eva though, his doggie and granddaddy, thats not good at all, if anything we should ask you to take a break man! you have been too hard at work with this firmware stuff!  pop.gif thanks for the speed solving issues though man. They improve speeds greatly.

BUT: can anyone tell me if the drive is running backups at full speed all the time, will this harm the drive? burn out the motor, or anything like that, ive done some searching in general for optical drives, and i see sometimes this can be an issue. JW. THANKS! smile.gif

I've used x360sam several times and it is solid.  Don't sweat it.

Earlier in the thread someone mentioned Dead Rising not working as a result of the stealth 3.0 patch.  That is incorrect info that was a result of rumors.  The truth is that there is a bug in Dead Rising that sometimes causes your cache to be corrupted.  When this happens you have a few options:
1) reset your cache using a key sequence (something like system -> memory -> y, x, x, lb, rb, x,)
2)if that doesn't work you can remove your hd and it will play fine only you will have to save to a memory card
3) If that doesn't work for you - format your hard drive and the game will be ok again.

Clearly this is an issue with capcom but no one is accepting responsibility on this so it will be some time (if ever) before a fix is released.

Thanks to c4e - you rule!

Don't worry..
Been busy working..
Making a living..
End of the Month..
Paying Bills..

My release will be out later this week...
Maybe even in the morning..

By the way, "Geremia" already did the same for the Hitachi with his "Media Detect v2",
but you need to restore and then re-flash using the FIXED updated "Birdy Package".

All "c4e" did, was take the work that "Geremia" did on the Hitachi and then applied it
to the firmware for the Samsung.

So truely, the Hitachi had this "speed/booktype" feature first.

why would it kill the motor when its just forcing it to run at the same speed originals run at??

wouldnt it be fine considering the dvd is made for running at the speed originals run at?

well I was wondering this also...

I may be wrong but are there really original games that run 100%! of the time at full speed?   I thought they ramp up to that speed when needed???   if that is the case do the backups run at full speed 100% of the time?  if so then I would say yes, it would wear out faster however no one will be able to give you this answer.

Basically anything that runs 100% of the time that usually does not,  more than likely WILL wear down faster than one that does not run 100% of the time.

So are there really originals that run full speed 100% of the time playing??  I cannot see this happening but maybe there is 1 game or something that streams all the time?  and are the backups also ramping down when not needed or not?  or are they spinning full speed even not in use at the moment?

Question, im upgrading from the very first fw. I tried flashing the "samhack" way, but im not positive if it went through or not? The obvious stuff i know(boot disk w/files & put the xtreme30 in the samsung folder etc) So i get to dos & type SAMHACK & then my s/n. But when i use spaces it says invalid, when i only space SAMHACK & the serial, it continues to say "This will flash your drive with hack.bin etc etc" & then a command prompt line comes right after.  Does this mean its flashed or am i missing something?

Any advice? I've been so far behind with the scene cause of work  sad.gif
