so is this being done "stealth" to play on live? or still just to paybass checks to play the backups,

if its to play on live it shouldnt be supported, since there are too many modders. I dont want the  360 console to turn  into halo 2 on live and totally destroy the 360 fun.

i know theres alot of kids out there that suck at gamming, Duh reason why halo 2 players mod online, cuz they cant play without the mods.

if its for offline play exellent job, if it helps with playing backups online, then piss on ya.

it does help to prevent detection of a backup ,

ms doesnt need to know if we are running backup or not ,

if you did any kind of reading, you would know that the games cant be modded because they are signed ,

and since you cant mod them , you cant cheat

I see what you are asking.  The big questions are:

1) Can they read/update the firmware from the console ?

2) If they CAN, then WHEN can they do it ?

So far, we assume the answer to #1 is yes.  However, we don't know.  Afterall, you have to use a boot disc to access the firmware on a PC.  For #2, if they can only read it before a disc is launched, then PERHAPS the "on the fly" firmware chips will work.

from what i've heard in recent stuff the southbridge chip on the 360's board doesnt support firmware dumping from the console. so unless they update it to do so (i dunno if thats possible mind you) we may be safe from that.

what i meant by the on they fly chips being able to do the job, is that the hacked firmware is only needed at boot, it only tells the 360 that the disk is legit and launches it, then the regular firmware runs it like a retail disk. which is why they'd only get one chance (from my understanding all the on the fly chip does is tell the 360 its good to go, and then switches off).

the most they will do is ban you from live. i dont think we have to worry about MS disabling xbox 360s remotely...lol if MS were really that kinda company, i bet half of you would have had your Windows XP shut down remotley awhiel ago. because afterall its there software they know whos legit whos not.

Has anyone got an update on this since the November 2008 dashboard 'upgrade'?
