Got both the NEC3550A and the Pioneer 111D and I get open trays on both of them.
Still haven't done my 2nd tweak of the POT though, i was planning on doing that this weekend.

We get the Open Tray message with "back ups" only. The originals work fine.
Check to see how those originals play in a different 360. If they are still playing weird the problme may be with the disk and not your xbox.

Sorry mate i wrote that when i was half asleep, i mean the music and videos still stutter from the original smile.gif But i never get the open tray error with an original.

Since you are having issues with originals that would make your situation a little different.

So far, between this thread and another, the open tray on insert issue when using back ups has been narrowed down to heat issue. When the 360 was removed from the case and fans were pointed at it.. the open tray issue went away. Another member was able to resolve it with the Intercooler.

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to update..It looks like another members who cooled his xbox is still having the open tray issue after a heavy gaming session. sad.gif It looks like it is the elastic fix that works without a doubt so far.

EDIT ..

It should have read. It looks like another member is still having issues with the open tray after cooling his xbox. For those that don't want to tweak the pot, it looks like the rubber band fix is the one to try now. sad.gif

to fix the open tray issue i guess u have 2 options:

the rubber band fix (which i have done, works great)

or POT mod (slight risk and chance of burning laser out)

both mentioned in the big open tray thread.

i'm just thinkin this is the fw speed in some cases which also causes everything to warm up faster i never had issues when i had it on 4x read speed and v3.7 but with v4.2 open tray errors so after i want to switch a game no matter if it was original or backup i have to put the new one in and it gives open tray error so i turn of the console and let it sit for a few and turn it back on and it boots
