Actually, you could easily upgrade your harddrive without getting banned... it depended on whether you have previously been on live or not before the upgrade. If you have, then you need to get a new eeprom. If you havent then.. upgrade away! (marriage theory 101  wink.gif )

Yeah there's ways around everything, most involving a lot of hassle and inconvenience, but the fact remains that most modifications of the xbox including the hard drive would result in a ban if detected by MS and I'm sure eventually that'll be the case here.  Eventually MS will drop the bomb and the posts will start coming from those who've been playing on live with backups and hacked firmwares.

I don't want to have to change gamertags or have the hassle of finding a clean eeprom.  I'm not risking playing on live until there's no way MS can detect the firmware modification.

Im trying as we speak.....i must be merging the drive key tot he new firmware wrong because all i get is a " unable to open file error" whentrying to flash.

I just reflashed my older firmware and that works so im doing something wrong. I used hexedit and ctrl and g, typed 4000 , then went to edit goto block, 400, copied it, did the same with the new firmware but pasted it....saved it but it doesnt work at all!

Weird

Is the only risk being banned?  I can live with that, but what i want to know: could Xbox Live upload some sort of firmware update and run it? or some type of code that will ruin my 360?

Still testing...I tried to copy $4000-4400 of my original firmware to $4000-4400 of the ver.3 Xtreme firmware when I save this as bin file it makes the file size 257, 258 Kb instead of the 256kb..I this bad????or is this suppose to happen.....while I wait for a response I am trying other ways...
THANKS...

I havent tried v3.0 yet. But for v2.0 I copy $4000-4200 instead of copy $4000-4400 and it work fine for me. I don't know if this help or not.

Read Part 5 - Importing the firmware key
"Using your mouse select everything from 4000-4200. Make sure you dont select the line 4200 though, just up to that point as it shows in the picture."
http://sickmods.net/...firmware-flash/

Again I tried copy $4000-4200 and it work fine for v2.0. I am not sure about v3.0 but I will try do the same thing on v3.0 asap.

I flashed xtreme30 last night no issues. Haven't tested too many backups or gone on Live, but the backups I've tried have worked fine (in addition to their originals).

Why do people use KDX? It's ridiculously easy and foolproof to manually hex edit your key into the new firmware. I wouldn't trust any of the "auto" programs like autoflashers.

Will try 4000-4200..Might be another .nfo error...will see if the file size changes and give you word when finished...

I've got the firmware loaded and all games work fine but I can't get Windows to detect my drive?  I've burnt the activate.iso to a DVD+R DL and followed the instructions but nothing appears in Windows!!

Any ideas?
