id defo recommend a bit more reading mate and do it the manual way, it really aint that hard once you get ya head around it, what you are effectivly doing is:

1) extracting original firmware from samsung drive
2) extracting the dvd key from the original firmware
3) injecting this dvd key into the xtreme firmware
4) flashing your samsung with the new xtreme firmware (with your key injected)

thats all there is to it! the tutorials make it sounds really hard, (of course read the tutorials first).

th hardest part in all honesty is getting you PC to see your samsung, for this you need to have a compatible motherboard and sata ports, but once it sees you drive, then its straight forward.

Well nobody knows if they are currently keeping an eye on the how many people are connecting to live with hacked firmware but it would be easy for them to check if somebody is using hacked firmware. So at any second people could start getting banned, it's not happening yet but surely MS will start banning at some point; I mean you got banned if you had a bigger than standard hd in the first xbox!.

its actually not easy for ms to check if you have a hacked firmware.
it WAS easy for them to check if you were running a backup, untill this firmware was released

Seeing as my drive is Hitachi-LG, this firmware release is like 2 generations ahead of GaryOPA's release. I can't complain mind you, it works like a charm, just waiting for v2.0 to be release tommorrow.

Actually, you could easily upgrade your harddrive without getting banned... it depended on whether you have previously been on live or not before the upgrade. If you have, then you need to get a new eeprom. If you havent then.. upgrade away! (marriage theory 101

The Xtreme FW 2.0 had a bit in the nfo about how the release was dedicated to his father who died. He bought him his original Comodore 64 which he learned to programme on etc.

Could anyone test and confirm to see if the xtreme3.bin can be patched using kdx 1.5 method? if not could you patch the xtreme3.bin with xtreme_proper.bin to allow kdx to work with xtreme3.bin? someone please get back more information on this..

no, it means that there are security sectors that are checked on both layers....
hence the need for dual layer discs...

range is 4000-4400 just like v2.0. Just use the free app HexWorkshop 4.2 and copy and paste 4000-4400 in your orig.bin over range 4000-4400 in xtreme30.bin and ur done. KDx has had problems and its better to do it manually and know it was done right. besides, i'm not positive, but i'm pretty sure KDx is NOT compatible with this version

I will try your way...I did hex edit the firmware with another program..I tested it and it flashed fine but when i put an original in it said play dvd i presed eject and then closed it again with original still in..It said to play this disk put in a 360....backups would say unreginzied disk..I reflashed with my old Xtreme and everything is working fine...will try again after i use workshop for the key
