Two Wire Trick
« on: July 18, 2006, 03:36:00 PM »

I`m looking for more info on the two wire trick.

Can`t get the Hitachi-LG drive in mode B so far. the slax cd in the xbox dvd drive doesnt completely boot, it boots only for like 50%.

Looking for a tutorial how to do the Two wire trick, couldnt find it so far.

Thanks! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

alright that works! I`ve been screwing around with that the whole evening long LOL

what do I need to do then? I get at a login screen, it says you can boot up (noobly) with:

root
toor

what do I need to do after that?

It gets into the linux OS, how do I put the dvd drive of the xbox360 in mode B? and how do I boot up windows when I`m in a windows of linux?

thanks

I got a Hitachi-LG dvd drive in the xbox360, got a sata cable connected from the xbox360 to the pc.

And boot up the slax linux boot cd (in the dvd drive of the pc) then i get at a screen where i need to login, you can choose noobly login with: login: root

Then i`m in the linux OS windows look a like kinda thing, but how to put the dvd drive of the xbox360 into mode B.

And howto start up Windows XP when I`m in the linux OS, cause I need to go to windows XP to start up the flasher programm to flash the xbox360 dvd drive right?

jesus guys , this info is nearly everywhere now , including most tutorials , and has been answered over and over , once linux has booted to the login prompt the drive should be in mode b   , reset ur pc without turning off 360 drive , boot into windows and the drive should be recognised (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Even that dont work for me. Maybe its because im using Windows 64bit or that my windows are on Raid disk and i read to disable raid. Ill have to try another pc i guess.

Don't be scared of the 2 wire trick.  It works great!  I was nervous about doing it myself, but I read it's the best method.  It's easy and the fastest way.  It took me a few hours to do figure it all out, but I successfully flashed my 1st Hitachi today.  All my Samsung confirmed backups are working on it.

Yeah.  It showed up in windows the 1st time I tried it.  I didn't have to do anything extra.

All the black 360 wires need to be attached to the white clip.  Keep the metal ends of the wires you attached to the 9 and 0 wires together and turn on the 360.  Within 1-2 seconds of the power light in the middle of the ring of light open your fingers so the wires should come apart.  The middle light should be flashing and it's now in mode B.  You can remove the wires at this point, but I kept them on until I finished the flash.  You just have to avoid them touching the metal of the case or each other.

ok here goes, I haven't done this in a while but basically

1) put the slax disc in the trash, you won't be needing this if it is giving you problems
2) use the two wire trick exactly as detailed as in the instructions, make sure that you touch the two wires together for only a fraction of a second.  what I did was I found an extra xecuter 3 red power wire laying around and I cut it in two pieces and stripped all 4 ends.  Then I crammed one wire into GND and the other into whatever power wire was required as per instructions.  Then I followed the instructions.  When it said to short the wires, I just tapped the ends together for well under half a second and I was on my way.
3) flash your drive.  this part can be complicated too.  see tutorials telling you to put pauses in the batch file.  Well, you do that but whenever it does PAUSE, wait at least a full 30 seconds before hitting enter again on each pause.  If it gives you any errors, repeat until each bank is properly flashed.
4) put your system back together
5) start booting your backups.

No problem.  Once you do it.  You see how much better it is.
