i think what xfoofoo said above is correct, once it says 100% its flashed ok, well thats what i read somewhere else,  hopefully garyopa can confirm or deny this.

I flashed one today that gave me 8/8 sectors success, but failed on the final check.  All backups burned with Office Depot (ritek) discs and a Lite-on burner work.

make sure your Sony supports DVD-ROM Bitsetting. If not, you can crossflash it with Liteon-firmware from codeguys.rpc1.org. If its already burning DVD-ROM, try different Media.

Yesterday evening I used the Xtreme 1.2fix and that one worked like a charm on my Hitachi!
Also - just for fun - I tried the Birdy Flasher, but no success.

But still no success on my backups, today I will try buying a pioneer. I will keep you updated

Also I read in the NME chip post, that changing the Hitachi pot to 2.6K Ohm , that it reads media without any problem.
Is this for this chip only, or for all backups?

grab dvdinfopro if you havent already and click the +RW at the top menu and then you'll know.  if it gives you an error saying it doesnt support bitsetting, then it doesnt support it. otherwise it does.

So, when using dvdinfopro it doesn't matter? I have the same with my aopen DVD.

And updating your Sony like that, did that help?

About pot-tweaking: I wouldn't burn my fingers on that, I am no technician, so before I wreck my 360, I rather buy a 360 with sammy... tongue.gif

I will try another burner, an LG (which doesn't support bitsetting) and maybe that will work, otherwise I will buy a Pioneer, or a XBOX 360 with a Sammy...

I see people here saying it's working, but they are getting the CONSOLE UPDATE screen from xbox live. This is normal, I have gotten that screen on every single backup first boot. ( i have about 15 backups ). I have updated every one and it works flawless. Even if you put in an original for the first time and you're connected to live, it's gonna ask you to update.

That seems the case.... I tried to burn my games with HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GWA4164, but no luck...
Tomorrow I will try to buy the pioneer (another 40 euro's, due to that damn Hitachi drive!)

Just to close this case: I bought a Pioneer DRW-111d and I don't have any problems running backups.

I used a samsung 552 (external drive) and LG GWA 4164 and an AOPEN: none of them worked (and you can imagine: I wasted a lot of Verbatim DL 2.4x...)

Thanks for all the help and support here!

Regards,

Sebas
