GaryOPA Xtreme v1.2 Hitachi-LG Firmware (7in1 - v32, 36, 40, 46, 47, 58, 59)
Posted by XanTium | July 15 15:09 EST

GaryOPA released an updated version of their Hitachi-LG firmware package with added support for the Hitachi-LG v58 firmware and improved flashing/restoring:
Quote

NEW UPDATED PACKAGE: "XTRM-HITACHI-7IN1-V1_2.RAR" - 07/15/2006

What's new/fixed (since XTRM-HITACHI-6IN1-V1_2.RAR (07/10/2006) release):
* NEW v58 Hitachi firmware added, now complete with SEVEN Hitachi drives! - Thanks to "dvdgorila" for providing the original dump
* GREATLY IMPROVED FLASHing  - Almost perfect flashing system!
* GREATLY IMPROVED RESTORing - Can restore drive with NO BACKUP!

Next release will include Security Sector Extraction for all Hitachi's

Flashing your drive
FLASH.BAT automatically makes a complete backup of your firmware system
* To FLASH a drive, it must be in Mode B and a "Windows Drive Letter"!
* Then just run FLASH.BAT from "Command Prompt" while running windows.
* The new FLASH needs two things, the "Windows Drive Letter", and FOUR numbers for the BACKUP directory, use a new unique number like 1572:
-This is used to make your BACKUP directory!
-For Example: FLASH.BAT H 1572
-Will cause the FLASH after running to have, a BACKUP directory "X12-1572.OPA" and the program will store FIVE firmware files:
---- key.bin   ---- DRIVE KEY /// DRIVE KEY
---- was.bin   ---- Your drive before FLASH
---- gdrXX.bin ---- The untouch original fw
---- modXX.bin ---- The patched Xtreme12 fw
---- now.bin   ---- Your drive after FLASH!
-Where the XX in the above names will be the version of your Hitachi
* Program will not start unless a BACKUP is correctly made and stored!
* Flash will auto-detect your firmware build of your Hitachi drive.
* You can flash over any version of firmware including "f900" or "v1.1"
* System will check flashed firmware, and redo until 100% completed.
* Once you get the PASS / DONE line, you can shut-down the system.

Restoring your drive
RESTORE.BAT automatically restores your drive back to original state
* To RESTORE a drive, it must be in Mode B and a "Windows Drive Letter"!
* Then just run RESTORE.BAT from "Command Prompt" while running windows.
* The new RESTORE does not need any backup, it will 100% restore your drive back to "ORIGINAL" state as long as it is visible in Windows!
* Program will not start unless it detects the version of your Hitachi!
* You can restore any drive, even "v1.1" or "f900" or your own hacks.
* System will check flashed firmware, and redo until 100% completed.
* Once you get the PASS / DONE line, you can shut-down the system.

Make sure you are using the latest package.

XTRM-HITACHI-7IN1-V1_2fix.RAR

File size is: 996,153

The first release was corrupted, but the flashing
was fine, just the checking failed even tho it was
ok.

Hmm. Maybe, but also the hardware has changed between drives.

v10 thru v27 were one hardware design

v32 thru v40 were second hardware design

v46 thru v59 were third hardware design.

So in X360 systems sold at the retail level, only four versions so far v46 / v47 / v58 / v59

Not much changed between v46 & v47 and the same between v58 & v59 -- Just minor bugs.

Don't know the reason behind the large changes between v47 and v59, I don't see any improvement
on the user side in playing games or loading time or media.

There was alot of revisions on the Toshiba/Samsung drives, also but since the Flasher can do a 100%
flash, even on a dead drive you only need one version.

Sure, but the problems reading DVD+R DL with bitsetting to ROM, comes from the xbox1 hitachi/LG drive...
Just, make a test, putting a dvd+r dl bitseted to rom (a movie or anything you like) in your hitachi/lg xbox1 drive...and the same click click happen....
 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Ohh...BTW you could do testing just a single layer dvd+r bitsetted to rom, and the same sh*t happens....(in xbox1)
Really nice...counting the xbox1 hitachi firmware...you have a LOT of firmwares with the same problem....thats a good work...right, hitachi/LG? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

I used Birdyauto flasher and it does exactly what you desribe, click click and then gives a dirty disk error. I wish I could get a disk that actually works...

Nope.

It works only when inside windows but by using the command prompt window

All Hitachi drives must currently be flashed via Windows only

Only the Toshiba drives can be flashed via DOS

Hi everybody. i've been always checkin out garyOPA's work, and became a great fan of him. I have only one question. Why you dedicate yourself ony to hitachi-lg drive gary? Why not helping people with samsung-toshiba? I really dont wanna be rude or anything, but you just found out a way to flash hitachi-LG back to original without needing its key! (i believe that right).
Some guy messed up my console, and lost the key of it, so i didnt even played my console, and, yes, im not ashamed of telling you guys, I don't have the money to buy a new one!
So please, dont tell me to sell my console, please, don't judge me by asking gary to dedicate a litlle bit to samsung drive, and please, just help me fix this problem. I know no one can fix it by now, since there's no program or something, but all i want to do is to play this console, that i worked so much to buy, and had so much hope in that stupid technician that did nothing but upset me.
Yes, i dont have money to get him in court... but please, just think about it.
Dont post replies like: dude, find another job so you can buy another console; or: dude, give up, sell your console, and try to buy a new one.
Please, just help me.

PS: sorry if i said anything rude, or uncalled for... Im still a big fan Gary.

The drive needs to be in 'B Mode' so you can flash it.... Read all about it here

The Hitachi is sometimes easier to recover as the "key area" is never flashed, just sections above and
below it.

The Toshiba/Samsung is impossible to recover if you LOST all backups made. As the flasher program
does 100% read, 100% erase, 100% write. --- You need that FIRST 100% READ 256K BACKUP, or you
are dead in the water if anything happens. Sorry to say, the best thing is to sell off the parts on ebay,
at the price people are getting for spare parts, you should be able to sell them all and buy a new X360.

Get hold of the guy that messed up your X360, and see if he has any backups of any kind. If he does,
email them to me, and I will see if I can find your key for you. --- Very little hope.

I have done some behind the scenes stuff for the Toshiba/Samsung owners, but currently everything
out there works great for them. The flasher is way better than Hitachi, the firmware is way better,
and you can even do a full recover (IF YOU HAVE A BACKUP OF COURSE) on a dead drive.

The Hitachi flasher is BUGGY, only works in Windows, drive is even easier to BRICK & DESTORY, and
the bad design of the laser/servo LG-PC junk takes 30 to 45 seconds to boot a game. More work I
think needs to be done on the Hitachi to still bring it up to the level of the Toshiba/Samsung owners.

The only thing I have produced in-house here at OPA for the Toshiba/Samsung, is a much better
auto-flasher but currently only works on VIA chipsets.
