I used 1/2" MDF with a 1/8" sheet of plexi over it.

inspired by badmonkey's build, i made a new control panel/box using the pelican sticks i had been using.  the only problem i have is that now the memory card slots on both player 1 and 2 do not work.  i'm not sure whether or not they ever worked.  is there a trick to the universal sticks?  the cables are connected properly???

i'll post a pic of my redesign soon.

i finally finished with my rebuild of the x cabinet.  i have a before and after.  the control panel on the "after" is completely removable/portable and can be used on the ps2, ps1, gamecube, and xbox.
i'm not sure i like the plain black bezel i have in it now.  i may change back to my green one.

MadPerry, is Perry your real name and if so, how old are you?

I used to know a Perry who was really into arcade games, that's all.

I think this is the one going for US$20.

The "real" ones being priced at US$49.99....Its not a tragedy though, even with the cost of shipping to the uk two of those are less than a two player X-arcade setup! thanks for the link, I'm surprised I never came up with that one myself!!

Also I cannot praise your cabinet highly enough, it is exactly what I aspire to build as soon as I have the space!

Yeah thats what I was driving at...I wouldnt want to use one of those!

But the Universal real arcade sticks look good, and I can import two single player ones from the US for just over half the price of an X-arcade two player set!! Damn, I could even replace all the buttons and the joysticks for Happ items and it would still be cheaper.....

the convex buttons are a jap asia button like you can find in their arcades ...

the inverted or "dipped" buttons you find in the usa are concave

this is the sticks i use

I just got a couple of those Pelican universal arcade sticks delivered from the US and I'm very happy with them....Now all I need is the space for a cabinet and then I'll build em all into one!

EDIT: I am a little jealous though, I'd never seen them before, I would probably have gone for that instead of the pelican for the ultimate in function....
