I am curious though due to their lack of details. Does it require the pain in the ass setup the Commodore4Eva's setup requires? Does it still require DVD-9 discs? How is it MS can't brick out your console for this mod or ban you from Xbox Live?

I'm against anything that isn't for homebrew on the console, the veil of "backups" is always comical to me. If you can't take care of your $60 games, then maybe you don't need a $60 games. If there were as many little brothers as people like to complain ruin their game discs we would have seen a massive population explousion across the board.

Very interesting.  Definately seems like you would need another drive just to backup your games.  It seems like it would not work using the 008 to backup your game now.  Once the chip is attached, I wonder if there is a way to get the drive recognized in windows so you can backup.

It seems likely that they would intigrate a feature fot this chip to simply not touch the x800/900 FW

...actually now that i think about it,  it wouldnt be needed, this chip wouldnt interfere because the x800/900 is used to rip the game/ss of originals and not backups so this chip would be off and wouldnt interfere as it is only working when you insert a backup

Also since the x800 is different then the originals, instead of this chip screwing up what youre trying to do with your drive when using x800, it would simple leave it alone

This thing seems to work like the mod chip that was used on the original PSX and the PSOne. What it probably does is monitor the stream of information going to the console and when needed, takes over the stream and sends the info needed so that the console thinks it's a legit game disc.

This is speculations of course, but from the description they give, it sounds like this might be the case. So if this is how it works, the DVD drive firmware is not patched nor is it even manipulated in any way by the chip.

In the case of the PSX this was easy to do and the failure to boot rate was very low when using a chip that used the motherboard clock as it's clock source. But then again, the speeds of the info coming from the PSX and from the 360 are probably very different and could possibly be the biggest problem with this kind of chip.

Just my 2 cents and hoping to have more details soon on how it actually works.

Wow, it's really amazing that some people are never satisfied.  You know who your are.  Everyone begs for some kind of hack, mod-chip etc. and all you can do is bitch about quality or appearance.  I for one am glad to see this.  It's progress and you have to start somewhere.  This chip may simplify things.  If it can be written to you could put xtrm0800 on one bank and xtreme on the other and never have to flash each time you want to do a back up.  Thumbs up Team Underdog .

For all of those who complain, don't bitch unless you can do a better one yourself.  I sure hope that is relevant enough for you
