I want to see some install diagrams.  How is it possible to go from a 30 wire mod with a switch to a either 4 or 11 wire install?

Yeah, me too.  But here is the thing, this NME chip isn't it.  They say that this chip injects code so it is patching the firmware on the fly.  If it's injecting code, it only works because it knows what the original firmware is and where to inject the code and whatnot.  Flash 0800 onto your original firmware chip and this NME chip doesn't know what to do.  This chip only works with the original firmware flashed onto the DVD drive firmware chip.  This makes it useless to me.  I want 0800 + xtreme like you do, not Retail + Extreme.  My drive had the retail firmware for the first 15 minutes I had an Xbox 360, it never had it ever again.

Amen. Seeing as how we can just flash these drives and it will do the same thing, they should charge a REASONABLE fee for this device. And as many have said before, I wonder what the boot success rate is, maybe if we are lucky this device will actually improve the LG/Hitachi loading times!

tss.. looks like a hand etched pcb and damn me if I didn't just spot a pretty rough marketing lingo.. for the samsung its 4 CABLES and for the hitachi its 11 wires.. So don't thinkt its gonna be a super duper easy install, but probably easier and less time consuming than a whole flash replacement

And as chancer says, the boot rate will be interesting to see.. patching nearly allways produces some bootrate degrading (unless done properly)

It's not a full chip replacement, it flashes the current chip.

Is it me, or is the board missing a smd component?

If this works, then it's great. The only problem I see is backing up your originals with this chip.

Why do they do this to us?   We are the Scene, and what do we get, a picture of a pcb, with plastic over the goods.     No install Diagrams, no technical details.

Man lately the scene has got me   muhaha.gif    The surreal 364, and the devil mod with nothing yet, and now this picture.        I feel like a kid waiting for santa clause.    Hurry up Santa Its jesus's birthday in some universe tomorrow.

Info is posted as it's recieved or found.. No magic wand around here that I know of

I would wait to see what xecuter is cooking up in their mod. I could bet multiple banks, and maybe even a few bells and whistles that no other one at the time has...id say definatley worth the wait.

Is that really what it does, though?  I may be missing something, but this chip seems akin to a dynamic "stealth mode".  If it sees a backup, it loads hacked DVD firmware.  If it sees original disk, loads original firmware.

I think you'll still need to load the 0800 fimrware manually, right?  So I'm not sure this buys me anything b/c I don't subscribe to Live.  If you don't play live, just keep it flashed with xtreme and save your money.  Actually, since it's not confirmed that MS can detect the hacked firmware YET, I'm not sure what this chip brings to the table at all.

I guess the majority use Live though, and would rather have the comfort of knowing they won't be banned.  I guess that's who this is targeted at?

if they released install diagrams and showed under the cover it would show alot about how it works and allow others to copy and release it before them

someone already replied that , no, it doesnt run x800, just patches FW on the fly when a backup is used. Someone will ask again tho...

to the people that asked about philips, since it requires different wires for the 2 drives out now, it seems unlikely that simple software updates would allow for a third, the will mostlikely have another chip that works with all 3 come later

I am curious though due to their lack of details. Does it require the pain in the ass setup the Commodore4Eva's setup requires? Does it still require DVD-9 discs?

I belive it does, IMO its very simple, the only pain in the ass would be the expense of the discs

How is it MS can't brick out your console for this mod or ban you from Xbox Live?

They simply havent done it yet, it took a little time for them to do it for the xbox1 too
