what is it for though if i had a sucessful flash, is there more likely of a chance the drive will break if i have the extreme firmware? THNX

If your drive is working at the moment then just hook it back up to your computer and extract your key!  The only way you are srewed is if it f%$#s up and don't have your key.   so get to it and make a new copy. smile.gif

just get a damn Samsung and be done with all the crap with Hitachi nightmares..  rolleyes.gif

as long as you have the original DVD Key, you can copy it over to a new Samsung and you're good to go..

as for other things going out on the 360.. Heat appears to be the main culprit... get one of those Nyko Intercoolers for $20 which pulls more air through the unit or if you want to reall go all out get one of
those Water Coolers from www.koolance.com for approx. $380.

I'm likely going to go with a Water Cooler in a few months with a Crystal Clear Case....

your dvd key is specific to your xbox.   In order to replace a broken drive you must have this key or your x360 is dead .  Hence the reason why you should make a backup of your key and copy it to a safe place IE:) a cd and a few places on computer , just to be safe.

It's absolutely pathetic that there's even a potential market for Xbox 360 water cooling. When you buy a console, it's supposed to work...without the need of any extra hardware.

it's not pathetic.. just a different and better way of pulling the heat off the CPU and GPU... MS is to blame for this shit.. They rushed to get the 360 out the door and equipped it with a piss poor cooling system.
Within 5 minutes of operation, the CPU and GPU could be used as a convection oven. There's better cooling on my Abit mobo with heat pipes and larger airfins for cooling..

I can't believe they used a shitty aluminum heat sink on the GPU.. talk about cutting corners..

looking at the Koolance system, after install you actually free up more space with the cooling blocks. the only problem I have is where the inlet and outlet connectors are.. you can't use the 360 wireless adapter unless you use a USB extension cable and mount it somewhere else..

did you use a antistatic wrist strap? cuss you could shock your mobo with static or drive or any other device in your xbox 360 and then it wont work. always use antistatic wrist strap so you dont damage your stuff. safety first
