Xtreme FW for Hitachi-LG 59 v1.1 *Revision 3* and v32, v36 FW Posted by XanTium | June 24 01:52 EST

A third revision of the Commodore4eva Xtreme DVD Firmware for Hitachi-LG with firmware 59 v1.1 has been released. Nothing changed for the 46D and 47D FW. I'm not sure who released this 3rd revision (anonymous?), but it should fix the problems with flashsec (which is the program needed to patch the FW on the drive, but wasn't working correctly on the FW v59). Problem with flashsec for FW v59 explained by garyopa on xboxhacker.net: WARNING: FLASHSEC47 or FLASHSEC46 does not work on v59. In v47 firmware a extra part was added bit check of >5A5 "Flashsec" is hard-coded to set the right bit. But, in v59 firmware all RAM is shifted by 4 bytes so >5A5 is not checked, but the BIT at >5A9 is CHECKed. --< See just moved up by only 4 bytes. Small change but stops the "Flashsec" prog. Easy for the change to be made by the author of "Flashsec". What's new/fixed: * Moved >DD to the right location (rev 1 - by Commodore4eva) * Fix the error in the DRT Decrypt (rev 2 - by Commodore4eva) * Flashsec needed a update to work with v59 (rev 3 - by unknown/anonymous) We also received information from several sources that there are 2 more "early" Hitachi-LG DVD firmwares found in some early produced Xbox 360 consoles. A v32 (drives manufactured around May/June 2005) and v36 (drives manufactured around July/August 2005). Is it me or is the Hitachi version just a fecking nightmare with all the version and revisions.

I'm guessing there's probably only about 3 or 4 launch consoles that still work, which is why the v32 and v36 FW are so rare.

YES ITS A NIGHTMARE. Next time can ppl please release things in one hit i'm sure ppl could have waited a week or so for all firmwares to be released. To me it's seems ppl are rushing to see who can bring what out first. There is bugs left right and centre.

Yes i bricked my stupid hitachi drive due to the v1.1 restore not working it restored one file then hung on decrpting for like 30min which lead me to reboot windows after that the drive never worked again.  Now i go shopping tomorrow for a new xbox 360 hopefully picking up a samsung.

Me and my friends have a total for 10 launch system's not one has failed nor have very many of other people's, I'm not sure why you people go on about what shit they are, most work fine.

it's funny how everyone complains of the different revisions. before everyone wanted the firmware release asap. now that there are improvements everyone complains of multiple revisions. i guess you can't please everyone. remember that these guys do this on their spare time for the community. they are not getting paid for this, they are doing it for fun.

is this update needed if you have a working drive? Ive flashed 4 or 5 hitachis with no problems what so ever, i dont need to reflash right?

If this was an actual FULL firmware replacement, there would probably only be 1 firmware for all Hitachi revisions, but since it only patches certain parts of the different FW revisions, there has to be individual releases.

If you have a Hitachi v59 that you've successfully flashed with REVISION #3 please post your experience -- e.g. method for getting into modeb and the smoothness of backing up the original firmware and patching it to the new state.

Anyone have any experience successful burning with LITE-ON DVDRW SHM-165P65 and VERBATIM media?

V36 firmware has been completed.

New package with the v36 firmware should be floating
around the 'net shortly.

This updates is only for users with under versions of drives,
all firmware releases are v1.1 by "commodore4eve", just
the v59 needs some updates to correct mistakes plus fix
the flashsec program.

v36 is found in "pre-launch" gifts to contest windows, plus
in many replacement drives ordered from "ebay" and the
"etech4sale" site.

v32 is the only version which needs still to be released.

If you already have a v46 or v47 flashed to v1.1 you don't
need these updates, the firmwares are the same, these
packages just bring in the older v36 and the newer v59.
