well now I've got two hacked drives.. a Hitachi with 46D hacked firmware which is a bitch to get
backups to play on it unless from what I hear you have a Pioneer 111D and Verbatim DL media,
which I don't have the Pioneer 111D as of yet..

but I do have one of those Plextor 716 External drives and with Verbatim, Memorex, TDK DL
media every backup has played on the Samsung..

There's gotta be a few bits in the Hitachi firmware that's yet been discovered that makes it
relax on media sensing..

Backups made on the Plextor with any DL media I've tried works with the Samsung.. Try
it in the Hitachi and it gives the unrecognized disc error..

Hopefully in a upcoming revision, the Hitachi can be made to overcome the problems it has
with reading media that's burned by an assortment of burners..

Plextor is one of the top brands of burners and everything I've burned on it has played
flawlessly on various other DVD drives...
