*ahum*, it's a modchip for the DVD-ROM drives, not for the Xbox 360 itself. This is
not the 'first real modchip for the Xbox 360'!
Idiots. (IMG:

I would normally agree but that may be stretching it a bit. It technicaly is a modchip for the 360. Last I checked the DVD rom drive was locked to the system and is part of the overall unit. How it fuctions maybe differant then the XBOX1 but in the same rights a modchip it is.
For example, just because it does not launch a dash just makes it another type of a modchip. No one ever said a mod chip must attack a bios. Maybe its time to rewrite the names then. Bios-ModChip--ODD-ModChip. But the name still includes modchip.
Just like the PS2 chips. Most, even early on, just injected code to run backups. That's it. No OS or "PSMC/XBMC". They are still considered a modchip with no one saying differant. Just because it attacks other fuctions and hardware on the box does not make it less of a modchip.
This may not be what YOU or I consider a TRUE MODCHIP, but I think they can safely call it THE FIRST modchip without getting greif.
* will not say the word MODCHIP for 3 days nows.*
