Alternative Trick To Getting Hitachi To Boot Games
« Reply #45 on: June 20, 2006, 11:13:00 AM »

This method works on my 46DH with a Lite On SHW-160P6S Burner with Ridata , Memorex and Verbatim DVD-R DL Media. Now there is no need for the Pioneer Burner and expensive Verbatims.  I have burnt 3 backups so far and this is the only way they will boot. Thanks again Cancer Boy !!

Cancer Boy is a hero everyone.  I'm assuming that the Play and Charge method is the most successful, am I right? ph34r.gif

im new here. but ive been reading a lot of teh tutorials here. pretty surprising what you guys have discovered. i've only owned a ps2 in the past but do some programming on my computer. ofcourse my system was modified but as it seems here for both the xbox AND xbox360, many tricks have been discovered. this is pretty neat! just wanted to say this is something out of the ordinary =P i bumped into my friends softmodded xbox months ago. he told me he didnt have a chip and it was just a program. i thought it was bullshit. now i know its real  biggrin.gif. now im thinking of getting an xbox 360 =)

I had created a succesful backup using a verbatim 2.4 DVD+R DL, this required the hdd/hdtv/power off for 20 seconds trick. I then copied that disc to a Great Quality 2.4 DVD+R DL, now I no longer need to do any tricks to get it to boot. I used the latest version of CloneCD to do a disc to disc copy. Maybe the media everyone is using  is causing the need for these tricks, just a thought.

yeah if your doing a game for a friend who has a Hitachi and cannot rip the game himself (yet) and he wants you to do him a backup of his orginal and you already have a backup of said game then there is no need to re-rip the orginal you can do a direct 1:1 copy on the fly from the backup to save you some time.

My perception of the post is that the friend has also bought the game, but can't rip it because of having an Hitachi drive. That would therefore not be 'naughty'!

No problem. I was just frustrated at first when I couldn't get anything to boot so I messed around for 1 night and discovered doing this worked everytime. And of course I had to share it here to help others cause so many ppl have helped me over the years. Its all bout the group effort.

Cancerboy -

Trick works every time now.  Got a new DVD burner, the 111D.  You're the man.  Much easier than the AV switch trick.
