Just out of interest, cancerboy, do you have a plug and play charger on a wireless controller plugged in when you do this? Having that plugged in when you switch off leaves a good chunk of the box running still (fans run, etc), so that could be why your disk spins up, and not others.

I have to admit, I haven't tried your method but here's another possibility. Mine didn't work at all when the console was in the vertical position, but works 100% when in the horizontal postition.

I'm using Verbatim media on a Pioneer 109 burner with v1.4 firmware.

ChadH Yes I do have a plug and play charger plugged in. Good call it seems without it plugged in I have no success. Mines in horizontial position. I've been testing it out so much never even thought that the plug n charge could be a factor. Thanks again it definetly needs to be plugged in. I can't seem to be able to edit my orginal post to add that a plug n charge kit is needed.

I dont have a play & charge and it works like a charm.. tested 10 backups with ridata and memorex

so Play & Charge is not a requirement

Seems to be for me but its great it works for you without it. I just want everyone to be able to get something to boot. So if it works without great if not try it with the play & charge. You got nothing to loose in trying.

I can't hear my spining either, but still loads my backups.

No more playing around with the AV switch at the back of the console.

Ok, so I jus got a 360 with a Hitachi drive (£110 believe it or not).

Jus to clarify tho...
I should be able to use CancerBoy's method straight out the box (stock)!? huh.gif

Appologies if this is a dumb question, its jus seems rediculessly easy considerin I'v spent the day readin about flashin firmwares & editin hex codes etc...

Replies appreciated in advance as always.

P.s. Keep up the good work guys.

Yes you definetly need the firmware flashed lol. This is just an alternative to using the av switch or hd trick to get games to boot.

this method doesn't work for me (no wireless contoller as mine is wired) - BUT the HDD method of booting works every single time BUT i need another controller (only have 1 controller) so have sent son down the shop to buy wireless and plug&play charger kit - will post back here results.
