Alternative Trick To Getting Hitachi To Boot Games
« on: June 17, 2006, 02:00:00 PM »

Hey just thought I'd let you guys know the method I've been using to boot my games. Burnt on verbatims and fuji film with a pioneer 111d. Seems to work for me 100 percent if I use these disks and this method.

1. Turn on xbox 360 with no game inserted.

2. Eject tray at dash.

3. Put backup in tray.

4. Press and hold X in the middle of controller.

5. Select turn off console. Tray will go back in on its own.

6. Wait a few seconds... You can hear the disk spinning.

7. Turn on console with the X in the middle of the controller.

8. Hopefully you can enjoy playing your game.

Not sure why it works but it works and that makes me happy. I like this method because I don't have to do the hd trick or the av reboot, kinda a pain to reach around the back all the time.

Good luck guys
let me know if it works for you or not.

Works for me, so am i right in thinking it maybe something that could be changed in the firmware? If we're kinda thinking that the extra seek time (the fact that the drive is already spinning) is what is enabling it to find the SS part of the disc correctly, could they alter that in firmware?

Keep up the great work guys (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

It does appear to be a timing issue. I believe it could be fixed in the firmware but honestly my knowledge of assembly is very limited, so its just a guess.

Odd I definetly hear it spinning but my 360 isn't in a case right now cause I'm painting it.
