I have successfully flashed my Hitachi with a Plug&Play USB 2.0 To SATA Adapter Cable
like the one from this link: (click)

WTF :S you flashed your drive with USB?? Why everything is telling me it will NEVER work!? (in dos with the SAMMY drives I guess then :S)

But allright I`m gonna order one of those, what`s the brand?? So I can look here in Holland for a local store! And typenumer?? And you used crosswire trick for modeB (works GREAT for me!)

And do you hook up everything BEFORE you start windows??

grtz

If you can get it into mode b, and it's recognized in windows, I don't see why you would have a problem flashing.

a.) PCI card
b.) SiL 3112
c.) Mode-B with SLAX
d.) Read on the tutorial pdf that my card wasn't supported but am sat here downloading and burning and playing xbox 360 games.

Great job guys, ALWAYS loved the xbox scene!

Are you REALLY sure this one will work 100% with the Hitachi (no problems while flashing??)

Like this card:

http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=SD-SATA150R&cat=CCD

Cause all local stores here are selling sata cards with SiL 3112 chipset (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Then we FINALLY got a PCI card that will work for every hitachi-user. And what chipset does your motherboard have and the drive will be recognized in bios??

Plz report back a.s.a.p I will go to a store here inmediately (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Well I haven't tried to flash my drive yet (version 46  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) ), but this sata card DOES allow me to get it into modeb and I managed to sucessfully dump my firmware from it in windows  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) hope that helps

In fact that link is the exact same card I have

SATA Card: Belkin F5U198 (From CompUSA), chipset SiI3112
ModeB: Slax CD (Didn't start flashing in ModeB until after I ejected the tray on the login prompt)
Worked after second flash.

Memorex Media, RITEK   D01
Booted with HDTV switch trick, Fight Night 3.

SiL 3112 chipset Sata Onboard and PCI works perfect for getting into modeb, and flashing. You might have to use the 2nd slot. I have an Asus a7n8x-E Deluxe with the Sill 3112A and flashed like a charm. All my backups play perfect on my Hitachi not a single coaster. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
