VIA 6421L PCI card with RAID
Cross wire method
ONLY works if I start windows up first, then plug in SATA cable and do the cross wire method. Also if I want to put my drive into mode B again without restarting my computer I have to disable then enable the SATA card.

i have the same via 6421l pci card.
slax dont work.
with cross wire method, front LED does blink fast, but windows freezes up and ejec trick dont work.

Now do you mean that you dont power up the 360 until windows is booted ?

"start windows up first, then plug in SATA cable and do the cross wire method"
so
1 - start windows
2 - hook sata cable
3 - boot 360 with cross wire

??

thanks

Flashed using

SIIG Serial ATA PCI card (model SC-sat212)
And put in mode b with slackware CD

Backups using a Pionner 710 dvdr dl drive and verbatim dl disks

All of these should be available at your local eletronics store.

Make sure you get a long sata cord to, makes it easier to flash

Whatever happened to this thread?  I think a Slax compatibility thread would be one of the best things we could do, why did this die?  I guess I can try and resurrect it.

PCI CARD WORKING (TUT SAYS IT DOESNT)

Did a 47D Hitachi

a.) PCI card
b.) SiL 3112
c.) Mode-B with SLAX

http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=SD...50R&cat=CCD

works...HOWEVER

mine needed a trick !!!!,
1. boot slax
2. set mode b
3. reboot
4. Quickly unplug sata cable from Xbox360 Drive
5. When Windows loading screen comes, plug cable back in quickly
6. went into windows could flash it witouth a hitch

If you would read, you would see it says the SIL card will never work for Samsung, but are actually the recommended card for Hitachis.

a.) Via chipset, amd, not 64bit amd.
b.) Via something.
c.) Mode-B with connectivity kit.

Works ! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Did not work with mine Via KT800 chipset.

And the sammy im trying to fix is not working with the two computers and not with a nforce 4. Nforce 4 Lanparty mainbord, ive got it in the sata bios but couldnt find it in windows or dos. The other two chipset did hangs in sata bios. So this will be insteresting.

I will try to update the post with the spesific details.

Hitachi 47d drive
NF4 chipset

It seems that the general consensus is that the Hitachi + NForce chipset means you canNOT use Slax to get the drive into Mode b so I didn't even attemp it.

I used the 2 wire trick to get the drive into mode b and everything worked fine.

BTW...anyone concerned about the 2 wire trick, I had a HELLUVA time trying to shove 2 thin wires into the pins (like the read me says to).  I got around it by using 2 needles from a regular sewing kit, shoving them into the 2 pins, then using a paper clip to "connect" the needles for the brief period after you hit the power button.  Worked like a champ.

I used pci card recommended in text book guide chipset ALI M5283
xecuter connectivity kit
GaryOPA 7 in 1
xbox drive is 47dj
only problem I had was pc wouldn't boot, I decided to disconnect the sata, boot machine and insert cable whilst in xp loading screen, worked great no problems at all
discs burned on pioneer 111d firmware 1.23 verbatums burned at 2.4 and 4x work very well,

Just unsure if this card will work with a sammy, will have to wait to find out.

That's brilliant.  I already made my 2-wire setup from an old Xbox 1 power plug though.

I am going to attempt to flash mine in the next week....

Here is my system:

Mobo: Asrock 939 Dual Sata II (ULI chipset)

Method: Slax or Xbox Connectivity Kit if that doesn't work. (I will try Slax before the Connectivity kit arrives. Don't know how fast it will get here when ordered (I'm in New Hampshire, USA) -- anyone suggest a good reseller?)

Burner: NEC 3500A D/L Burner

Media: Verbatim

Xbox 360 DVD Drive: the dreaded Hitachi 46d

I will post my results of my progress--successful or not.

Are you REALLY sure this one will work 100% with the Hitachi (no problems while flashing??)

Like this card:

http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=SD...50R&cat=CCD

Cause all local stores here are selling sata cards with SiL 3112 chipset (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Then we FINALLY got a PCI card that will work for every hitachi-user. And what chipset does your motherboard have and the drive will be recognized in bios??

Plz report back a.s.a.p I will go to a store here inmediately (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Card - Adaptec ASH-1205 from Bestbuy (SIL3112 chipset)
Slax - Worked
Drive - Hitachi 59DJ
Burner - Sony DRU810A (doesn't work with GaryOPA 7in1 2.1
