Pioneer 111d And Clone Cd Question
« on: June 16, 2006, 03:22:00 PM »

I have just purchased a new pioneer 111d and it has the latest firmware revision on there 1.19.  I have the latest clone cd 5.2.9.1 also.  I cannot burn a dvd+r dl.  I can burn a 4.5gb dvd using nero, alcohol, etc though.  The funny thing is my pioneer 109 burnt the same dvd+r dl perfectly with no issues whatsoever.  Any ideas about the 111D please?

unfortunately im not replying to answer your question however what i tell you is just as important.  I too purchased a 111D yesterday only to find out that the 111D doesn't support bitsetting and there is no firmware release yet that allows for bitsetting.  Owners of 110D drives there is a firmware release from TDB (link in Geebee's tutorial) that auto switches the booktype whenever a DVD+R DL is inserted.  You have to have a drive that allows for bitsetting for your backups to work.

Cut from a well known xbox site

--
As you may or may not know you require a Dual Layer Burner that supports bitsetting / book type setting so the burned disc will read in DVD-ROM format. The Dangerous Brothers have released a firmware that adds AUTO-BITSETTING function. I have tested this and it works with 360 burns. As most people I speak to have this model of DL burner I figured i'd make a post about it

EDIT: It seems all Pioneer 109 110 111 support bitsetting for DVD+R DL however they do not for DVD+R. This firmware will be useful if a hack is released that supports +R burns (not just +R DL) ala The Specialists non released hack

Pioneers as a default set the booktype to DVD-ROM for dvd+r dl.  Its only for the dvd+rw dl that it doesnt.  My understanding is that there is no need to woory about this as it set as default.

Ok im about to go buy a pioneer drive...because it seems NEC cant burn any media no can Asus burners that will work with the hitachi FW hack. But i have heard pioneer works perfect.
So you say the 111D doesnt support bit setting? But the guy below me says all pioneers do. Im so confused here. I want to make sure i buy the correct drive.

I have an MSI DR16-B2 drive. I cant find any bitsetting firmware or tools for this drive but in dvdinfopro it says it is already set to dvd-rom...i presume this will work ok? i need to back up about 12 games so im hoping i dont need to buy a pioneer just to do this. Anyone know for sure if this is correct? I dont want to waste discs.
Thanks in advance

I have a Pioneer 111d with firmware 1.23 and it burns just fine. When you look on DVDinfopro it will tell you that " pioneer drives do not support bitsetting" but by default they set it as DVD-ROM so it should work. The drive is not crappy. Probably one of if not the best one for the 360.

its nothing to do with dvdinfopro.  i load up clonecd and the file will not burn.  the writing just fails.  only once did it even begin to write and even then it failed after 50% burn completion.

Well it shouldnt fail, even if the bitsetting isnt right, it would still complete the burn, the disc just wouldnt boot.

Either your drive, your media, or your pc is at fault there.

ok.. i have a 111d coming from shop4tech.. this drive will burn a proper image correct?

edit: nm, http://forums.xbox-scene.com/lofiversion/i...hp/t517805.html explains that is in fact a good burner for 360 images.
