Wee, just cracked open my xbox 360 and what do you know, it's a 47DJ firmware!! Thank God
But hey, now to a serious question:
Do you absolutely HAVE to ground the xbox 360 when connecting the DVD-drive to the motherboard with the SATA cable? I read something about using clips from the xbox 360 to the pc chassis.... what's that about? Could anyone post a picture of it? I'm not sure how that should work, but I'd like to be sure that the DVD-drive won't get harmed when flashing it.
And, how many of you guys who actually flashed your Hitachi drive grounded the xbox?
Thanks! (BTW, C4E rocks!)
In anticipation of this firmware, yesterday I was screwing around with what people discovered before the firmware was released: ways to get it into modeb, ways to back up the current firmware, etc. Not knowing what the hell it meant to ground something, or having the means to do it, I lazily went ahead and powered my 360 and PC on, connected by SATA, a total of 4 or 5 times, getting it recognized in my BIOS, using the slax CD, etc., etc. I wake up this morning and turn it on, only to be greeted with a non-working 360 and three red flashing lights. So, either not grounding it was the cause, or it simply stopped working; those are the only two conclusions I can come to.
Long story short, ground it to be on the safe side. Croc clips, as described in geebee's tutorial, are very cheap and are available at Wal-Mart I believe.
