I wish everybody would just take a deep breath before asking questions.

Many of the modeb questions have been asked and answered over the last couple weeks by hitachi owners preparing for the fw release.

There also have been some very helpful people who have posted so far.

Just take a quick look around, read the whole thread and you'll most likely have the answer to your question.

can the hitachi drive be flashed with a SiI3112 sata controller ?

I was able to dump and write back to a Hitachi with my Abit NF7-S motherboard which uses the 3112 chipset.

hey guys, I have Lite-On SOHW-1693S DVD Burner and lite-on made a special software for users to change the booktype on their DVD+RWDL Media.  Would that work or do I have to buy one that is already in the DVD Drive inself?

I am having problems.  I notice when I downloaded the files for the Hitachi firmware it came with a bin file 256kb titled xtrm-e.bin.  After I dump my orignial.bin firmware what do I do? I then did restore and nothing happened.  DO i have to use the KDX 1.5 to transfer the DVD Key or what?  Someone help me please thanx.

First of all thanks to C4Eva this was the present of the year biggrin.gif

As regards to recognising drive in ModeB in windows the best method is the 2 wire method which was discussed millions of times, it is risky but works 100%, Slax never worked for me.

As regards the media a big SHIT sad.gif unfortunately where I live I could find only RiDisc DL which I presume are the same like Ritek and already bought 10 :S  Will try them after work and will let everyone know how it went.

I can bet money that those wont work biggrin.gif

Ridata is RITEK too and none worked biggrin.gif
