I can bet money that those wont work biggrin.gif

Ridata is RITEK too and none worked biggrin.gif

Is this a firmware thing?  A laser thing?  What causes this.  Hopefully it's fiirmware and it's fixed in the latest versions.  This hopefully then can be migrated to the older drives.

Anyone tried burning a dual layered DVD movie too observer behaviour?

ridisc and ridata are rubbish anyway, whats more worring is verbs are having probs also. As for it is being the laser or the firmware, who knows but you do get updated firmwares for drives for better compatability on media. Maybe this is the problem and maybe 4eva can tell us.

all i want to know is how long for the 46 firmware so i can do some testing

Spellcheck spellcheck spellcheck.. i'm sure you don't want to crap on your xbox....

Follow this information and google for it first.  And don't use a knife to do it.

Thought you'd get a laugh out of this, checking around for some blank dvds - www.officedepot.ca returned this:

No results found for "verbatim"

Hey guys well I'm so pissed iff at myself I did something wrong with the firmware transfer and now windows and and even my own xbox 360 wont read or open my Hitachi DVD Tray.  Itried the slax boot disc then boot it up to windows and nothing now.  Is there anyone that can help me and maybe be a possible way to reflash the original firmware back onto it?  Then maybe it will work.

I disagree. I have had around 2000 successful burns with Ritek/RiData media (on 5-6 different writers), and I can't honestly remember a single burn failure in 4+ years now. All of my players, and friends players, play these discs fine as well. The Philips drive in the original Xbox, and now this Hitachi, are the only 2 drives I have ever had ANY issues with at all...

Easiest way for me to get the Hitachi recognized was to put my friends Samsung in my 360 & have my Hitachi in his 360, power both on, get the Samsung recognized in Windows, then swap the sata cable. Windows still sees Samsung, but its the Hitachi. I would recommend this way a 1000 times over cross wiring or putting up with Slax. Not to take any credit from either option, but i felt it was much easier & safer this way. If you have the means try it like this.  wink.gif

^^ This is the way i did it to get the Hitachi key when i was swapping for a Samsung.

C4E is a genius and so topples the second barrier in the 360 security wall. Now phear the MS countermeasures.

I mean, now MS can counter the firmwares effectively since both are now known. Though they will still have to wait for the different hitachi versions before countering, as to avoid bad PR from "haa haa they didnt even catch them all" press.

FYI

Don't think anybody has mentioned this yet.

I flashed a Hitachi today using the Xecuter Connectivity kit - it was literally as simple as:

1 - Connect Hitachi to PC power and SATA using Xecuter adapter and press the switch to DEBUG mode (modeb)

2 - Boot into windows

3 - Run xtreme.bat x   (x=drive letter)

DONE - first backup in the 360 booted perfectly on Verbatim media

three questions:

I bought my 360 on launch day.  It is a hitachi and does that mean I'm going to have a 46?  Also is there anyway to check besides opening the 360???

And how do i know if my Motherboard has a SATA port?  I bought the pc in 2000

i have 2 hitachi drives from launch day and they both are 47's

So at this time the entire firmware in the Hitachi cannot be flashed ...correct? i have 2 Hitachi drives (47's) i want to keep my original drive the way it is and flash the spare with my key and the xtreme.bin. that way i have a drive to use for back ups and a drive to use for live. i though i read somewhere that since u can write singles bits that u could re-write the new key into the firmware with a .bat file....anyone know how to accomplish this...? thanks for any help.

My latest:

The fastrak controller shows no drives connected when the hitachi drive is connected - as suspected when slax boots up the ring of light does not come on / flash - so it is not detecting the drive.

I also tried hotswapping with an sata hdd I have - but as soon as I connect the 360 drive and then power the 360 on windows hangs.

So as I first suspected - at this point I can only think that my mb sata (promise) will not work with the drive. I still suspect the drive should show up in the fastrak screen which it doesn't and slax doesn't detect it all so I think that has to be it.

And there appear to be no settings in the mb bios or fastrak controller so set it to native / ide it only has raid 0 and raid 1 and you can only get into fastrak if a drive is detected.

So I guess what I now need to know is if anyone used a pci SATA card and if so which specific model works? I guess that is my only option now.

Thanks!
